Sorry this is a little long winded but i just need some place to vent. On our way home from the cabin today i got into a little bit of a pissing contest with this guy in a Pontiac G6, it was the GT G6 coupe, anyways, we were just cruising at about 110 km/hr and we were in steady traffic on the highway.. than i caught up to this guy and just gave it enough gas to pass him when it was safe, and outta nowhere this guy floors it thinking i was trying to race him.. so he almost got us into an accident.. at first i said whatever because i thought he was just messing with me and i went back to normal speed and set the cruise control, but i noticed he did the same thing to EVERY single car that tried to pass him.. he was just driving like a complete idiot.. after seeing him weave through traffic like he was in the fast and the furious movie i decided i had enough of his BS and dropped it into 4th and put it to the floor and caught up to him, i caught up pretty quickly and as soon as it was clear and safe to pass i gunned it and beat him pretty easily, of course after i got well ahead of him i slowed back down to 110 km/hr again he did the "Ricer Flyby".. and yes i know what i did wasnt safe but i just wasn't thinking clearly, i normally don't race at all and don't get me wrong.. i know my car isn't all that fast but i just had enough of this idiot.. does anyone know the specs for the G6? i was surprised i beat him..

You shouldn't have... lmao Depending on the year they all make more hp than you do. lol They are more aerodynamic and better suited for upper end range. The engine is a decent engine that they have in them. It is built for all around power and depending on the year they can have some power. I do not particularly like them, I think they are ugly. lol With a few mods on a split-port they should not be anything to worry about though.
A G6 GT has 200hp and 220ft/lbs from a 3.5L push rod V6. It has a curb weight of 3457lbs.
A 99-04 Mustang has 190hp and 220ft/lbs from a 3.8L OHV V6. It has a curb weight of 3300lbs.
It should be a fairly close pull.

I think after he seen i was catching up to him he slowed down a bit, i just wanted him to realize he's not driving that fast of a car lol that's the only reason i did this. i think if we were to race again it would be close but he'd probably beat me..

Ya i know what you mean, people think that just because we drive Mustangs, wether it be a V6 or V8, that we wanna race.. i never go looking for a race because i know my car isn't fast. I do drive aggressive sometimes tho, but only because it's still a fun car to drive lol

The specs on the GT depends on what transmission engine package you get. If you want a stick you get an even more powerful engine. My mom has the later and thre is no way I could keep pace with her if we raced. But then I think mine has a small tune issue. Anyways, yeah drive safe. Racing is for the track

For our class of car, Mustangs are fast for the price. I bought this car because I loved the styling of it and I love the iconic Mustang theme. Yeah I like being able to go 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds but I like staying on the good side of the law and my insurance company.
Yes for the price the Mustang is a pretty quick car.. and for a car thats nearly ten years old to be able to beat a 1 or 2 year old G6, which costs quite a bit more shows that the v6 Mustang isn't no slouch..

From what I understand, despite what the numbers might lead you to believe, the V6 Mustang is a better overall performer. Horsepower isn't the best indicator of speed, except in other clear-cut cases.
The V6 Mustang may not have a GT emblem on it, but compared to all of the other V6 GTs from other makers, it's one of the fastest. It's faster than the G6, the Tiburon GT, and I've personally beaten a Toyota Tacoma TRD Prerunner by a full car length, and I'm still not that great with a manual.
It's the same thing with the new Camaro and Mustang. Yes, the new Camaro has about 400hp, but it doesn't outperform the 315hp Mustang by as much as those numbers might lead you to believe.
I was shocked to find out that the 4.0L V6 that I drive is about as fast at the GTs made prior to 1999. Also, to me, GT is a heavily overused marketing term. A car isn't a true GT unless it has a V8... A Grandam will never be a GT IMO no matter what they slap on it.

Agreed. In the case of a Tiburon, it's just a way to help move a gas guzzling 4 cylinder equivalent off the lot.
