Im wanting to get these longtube headers, but im seeing that i have to take off my cats. I live in north carolina and idk anyone who can help me. Is there anyway i can still keep my cats on with these headers?
Going by your name, I'm guessing it's a 2002 we're talking about. That means you're going to get sniffed and with long tubes, it's doubtful you'd pass the check even with cats. Long tubes just put too much out.

from what i understand it wont pass...my car sure as hell wont haha. you can go with shorties and high flow cats and will still get a good sound. but im here in Cali so smog emmisions suck here.

A properly tuned car with proper functioning emissions equipment should have no issues passing the smog test. I understand CA is super tough, but as long as you have all the equipment that CA requires and it is properly functioning then there should be no problem. I have had plenty of vehicles nearly pass Massachusetts emissions testing, which isn't that much easier than CA's, when they had almost no emissions controls working but they were in very good mechanical and running condition.
Long tubes and catalytic converters will pass fine unless there are other problems.
I LIVE IN EMERALD ISLE AND I ALSO HAVE A 2002 V6 I HAVE SHORTY HEADER HIGH FLOW CATS A CUSTM H PIPE AND FLOW MASTER 40'S WITH TURN DOWS RIGHT BEFORE THE WHEELS IF U WANT TO WE CAN MEET UP SOMEWHERE IN JVILLE SO U CAN LISTEN TO IT THEY ACTUALLY SOUND REALLY GOOD

Even with cats installed after the LTs, he would still fail the visual exam. Any modification to a car's exhaust system is grounds for failure of the visual smog inspection in CA. Fortunately he lives in NC where the smog laws aren't so pervasive.
Around here they just plug the car into the computer and then do the "Dyno" run of sorts. They don't even look at the damn things. That is kind of the advantage of living in missouri. We are always the last state to do anything. Sometimes advantageous, sometimes not.

Since inspection does a visual test under the car, and people who converted their y pipe to an H or X, would that also fail inspection since it was modified??

It depends on the inspection facility. I know there are some around here that will fail you if you change anything, even the tips. The place I go could care less what you do behind the headers as long as the cats are there it passes the sniffer test.
Longtubes and/or a catless midpipe are a guarantied fail around here. A lot of people put on an off-road midpipe and keep the stock one to swap when it comes time to smog it.

I understand the laws in CA suck. IF (and I do mean IF) you can find 50 state legal longtubes and a 50 state legal midpipe section with cats you are golden in CA. I realize that is possibly not an option there. Otherwise, as long as you do not remove emissions controls and have the same as or newer tech than your car came with factory there is nothing in the federal law about changing the cats for different models in the other 49 rational states.
