Default $1000 and I want some horses

I have a V6 and $1000 bucks I can put into it, what can I get that will increase horsepower?
(even though turbochargers are more, are they even an option for a V6?)

Yeah they are an option. I just put one on my v6. I am dynoing it tommorrow. But for one grand you could get a CAI and Nitrous kit and have a pretty mean set up.

wouldnt it be more effective to get a exhaust cia and a tuner? i might be wrong but as far as i understand nos is only good when u push the little red button hahah so maby start out wiht a exhaust cia and tuner. u could probley even add gears for a little more adn the tuner will help to tell ur car what u have installed. this will pull the most proformance out of the car thtat u can get, and will improve gass millage when driven like a normal person hahah

To be honest if you want to go FI later like turbo especially be sure that you will be able to re use your CAI and exhaust. I guess the exhaust is more just the sts turbo. But I paid 1300 bucks for a CAI tune and Exhaust from ford racing and now can't use any of it becuase of the STS turbo kit.

Why would you want horses? I would rather have parts that would fit in my car.

Sorry I had too.. lmao

In all honesty I would save up a bit more and then just get a big chunk of mods done at once so you can feel the big difference rather than add on everything one at a time, I wish that I would have done that.

I'd say get nitrous, but as someone else said, it's only good when you push the button. But, gears and a t lock would be the next most effective thing next to forced induction. However, gears and a t lock won't add hp or torque. They simple get you into the power band faster and help the power get to the ground.

A t-lok is a locking differential. It allows power to go to both wheels when you stand on it. You may have noticed that only the right rear wheel spins when you break traction.
A tuner is hand held computer that connects to your cars electronics and allow you to adjust the spark timing, speedometer, speed limiter, rev limiter, read and clear diagnostic codes, and much much more.

As for upgrades follow GET IT:
Gears (3.73 for manual, 4.10 for auto- $170)
Exhaust (custom true duals or a GT catback with GT take off- $350-500)
T-lock (7.5" from Ford Racing- $220)
Intake (Cold air intake -$70)
Tuner (SCT SF3 is a great tuner $370)

Everything listed here is available on AmericanMuscle.com
The only thing I would not get there is the exhaust. You can have a local shop do a custom fabrication for $350-400.
Mustang 3.73 Gears for 7.5 Rear End at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping or 4.10 Gears for 7.5 Rear end at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Ford Racing 7.5" 28 Spline Traction - LOK Limited Slip Differential at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
SCT SF3/X3 Power Flash Mustang Custom Tuner - 3rd Generation SCT XCalibrator - FREE SHIPPING!

What year is your car? That will help narrow down what works and what doesn't.

I just installed my detroit tru trac and 3.73s and I wish I would of done them first. It drives like a whole new car. I would definitly go ahead and get it done now so you won't have to worry about it later. Its easier to save up $300 for exhaust or an under drive pulley, but saving up all the money for a gear and lsd swap is a pain. I'd do it now while you can. It makes the biggest difference.

Gears and a T-lok will run you about $380 plus install.
