that is what sucks about a V6, it gets the same milage as a V8 and it has alot less power...could never understand why anyone would buy one

This is a pretty blatant troll, but I can't help myself...(I guess that's why trolling works)
Firstly, don't buy a sports car if you're that concerned about gas. Secondly, what you may not save in gas with a V6 (it may not be much, but you'll save some), you'll save with insurance and probably price as well.
I checked out insurance for a 2005 Mustang GT and my provider wanted over $300 a month for it. And that was the lowest quote from any provider I could find. Not to mention that the price was substantially higher. My V6? Still over $200/month, but I'll opt to save $100 a month for a ride that isn't that much slower, and within a few short months will be able to hang with other V8 sports cars thanks to the money I'm saving on insurance and payments, thanks.
From what I understand, bashing the V6 or others' rides in general isn't welcome here, so I'm sorry if I carried this off into an unwanted tanget but I get a little annoyed with people who think that a V8 is a better choice under any and all circumstances. Especially after I show off my new exhaust to a guy at work and all he had to say was, "Wow, you know what else sounds like that? A GT."
Anyway, as far as gas mileage goes the only things I can think of are to keep your car in good shape (making sure it's running efficiently), get an economy tune (should be a pretty big improvement), drive like you've got a trunk full of loose eggs, and avoid running accessories like heat and a/c. Also, one other thing is to make sure that you've bought a manual, but that only matters before you buy the car.
I just got back from a five hour trip. My MPG was 29.
I was running the mods in my sig and a 87+ Eco tune. My average speed was 65-70 in cruise control. Windows up and not AC or heat.
Be easy on the gas and try to do anything aggressive. You should be able to get a little better mileage that way.

Thank you for calling out this bashing, one of my favorite quotes is any idiot can make a v6 fast it takes a true idiot to make a v6 fast. And it is a lot more fullfilling to have people ask if its a v8, just smile and say v6
