Default Snow tires on a 98 V6 stang?

I've been looking into getting snow tires for the winter to help with traction. Just trying to figure out what would be the best way to go about doing this. Should I go with a set of steelies with snow tires or just put the tires on the rims I have now. Should I also go with studded tires or just go with a non studded snow tire? I currently have the stock 15in rims. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

The 06 V6 is a little heavier than yours I believe, but I have been using 16" Bridgestone Blizzak W60s on my 06 pony package for the winter. I did buy the tires on a set of 16" rims from TireRack.com because I didn't want to expose my pony package 17" wheels to the salt up here on the roads in Northern New York. I was VERY pleased with the way the Mustang handled during the winter on the Blizzaks, however. I went studless, but I am sure the studded tires may actually see even better control than I have witnessed.

The only problem with studded is that they get torn up quicker and if it's not 24/7 snow then they become a pain to drive regularly assuming you just leave them on. So I'd stick with the non studded so you can just leave them on all winter long. Maybe get some heavier wheels, you may lose a tiny bit of mpg but gain a lot of traction.

so stud-less tires and steel rims would be a good idea. I assume it would be best to stick with the stock rim size and tire dimensions?

Thanks for the tips guys.
