i have an 01 3.8 v6 auto trans and i want to take off the stock exhaust and put duals on so what would any of you do. what would you put on my car to make it sound growly and low sounding and good at idle and start up and reving and acceleration.
what would you do
i was thinking about o/r jba or bbk h pipe and flowmaster super 44 or 40 series system
and one more time could someone explain to me what true duals, divorced duals, duals are
True duals: each side the engine has its own full exhaust piping. It may or may not have a cross over (H or X pipe).
Divorced duals: the same as above but, has no cross over.
Duals: can be either of the above. Non-true duals generally have both headers going into a Y-pipe and then being split back into two pipes.
As for the question as to what exhaust (it has been answered 15 times by now):
Get a local shop to fabricate you a set of true duals with and H-pipe going into Super 44's. Leave the cats on otherwise you are going to get a poppy/raspy sound that does not complement our V6s (think Supra or another tuner car).

quick question...what is the difference between flowmaster original 40's super 40's and super 44's????????????
The Original 40's are the base mufflers. They are the classic Flowmaster design. They have a aggressive rumble inside and outside the car.
The Super 40's have a little more aggressive sound compared to Originals. They are painted black on the outside. Super 40's have a little less drone inside compared to the Original.
The Super 44's are the most aggressive sound. They are basically the Super 40's but are 4" thick instead of 5" thick.

I am going to do that to but I have heard that an h pipe sounds better on a sixer, and you know that it will sound different on your car than on a gt or cobra or bullitt
