I was reading that thread by recunga, or whoever that was, that said their V6 could run 0-60 in 3 seconds. He explained that he had Cobra badges on a V6, which to me seems like a clear-cut case of ricing out a V6 based on his mods which included exhaust work, a CAI, and a lowered suspension. None of those things make a V6 into a Cobra obviously. I don't mean that as an insult, but based on the definition of 'ricing out' a car (def: "cars which have been modified cosmetically to give a false impression of high performance") his car would be riced out.
But it made me wonder: Where is the line drawn on that one. If someone has a 400+hp V6 with a turbo/supercharger with suspension and exhaust work on it, would they be justified in slapping on a GT or even Cobra badge?
I would never do it, because I would want people to know that my car is a V6 (I'm partial to 'sleepers' myself), but I'm of the opinion that it's not really "wrong". If you end up adding enough performance parts to basically make your car the equivalent of a Cobra - or better - then I don't see why you couldn't do that.

doesnt matter if your v6 can blow the doors off every cobra ever built...it will never be a cobra. it's generally looked down upon to label your car as something it's not.
I would never badge a car not coming with it what every. How about just getting a license plate that says "Guess". Someone one of the Ranger sites who did an Explorer 5.0L swap came up with the idea of putting one of them Hybryd emblems on the side, that works for me.

If you want to make your lower end distinct with badging make it genuine. If I had something with large amounts of horsepower, I'd call it a GT6. It is a GT (High performance) and it is a 6 cylinder.

Well I for one am not the type to falsely badge a car. But aside from that, I call BS on the 0-60 is 3 seconds. That is a ridiculous claim. The 2009 ZR1 does it in 3.5. I don't think anything shy of 700 or 800 horses is going to do it.

turned out the guy was talking about 0-60 KMph not mph lol
lol according to Forza 3 my Cobra R has a 0-60 of 1.6 seconds. TOOOOORRRRRRQQQQQUUUUUUEEEEEEE BABY!
And I know what GT stands for, and it is also reference to winning races, but the butchered Americanized way we use it is that GT stands for high performance.

245 emblems! not a gt dont claim it to be, i still get ragged on....bs!
lol you're not alone... i have "232 MUSTANG" rocker stripes and people still assume my car is a GT. then again, the black terminator wheels are not helping.
and then when i tell them it's a V6, they look at me like i just farted...
Hey, i have a GT and still get ragged on for having an auto so no matter what you do, ppl will always give you a hard time.
"posing" which is overbadging your car is generally frowned upon. It is acceptable to badge a GT with the pony tri-bar because it doesn't stand for anything other than saying it is a mustang,
Now get this one:
I have the GT fender emblems, the GT fake gas cap, 281 emblem center caps on the rims, 4.6L V8 badges on my hood scoop, a GT power plug. And people still ask me if i have a GT, V8 or here is the cake, "Do you have a 5.0?".
