Any Suggestions? 2002 Mustang V6, BBK headers?

I am wanting to put BBk headers. They have ceramic ones to that cost about $60 more. is that worth the money? also i have a shop that will make straight pipes for me and put them on but they have to put the cats on. Do straight pipes sound good on a v6 mustang or is it better to go with something else? might be a stupid question but i am not very good with cars. My main question is does headers and 2.5'' straight pipes from the headers sound good or horrible?

I put Mid Mufflers with an X pipe on my 2010, and it sounds awesome! Mid mufflers are the way to go on a v6 if you gotta keep the cats! RPM outlet has a full mid muffler set by PYPES for $429, but I had JEGS price match that, because RPM outlet has a poor history.

catless v6's just don't sound good. i tried it and closed that experiment. the ceramic is worth the money especially on the 99-04's where that ac drips on the passenger side manifold and cracks em pretty easily.

BBK only sells shorties, which will bolt right up to your current exhaust.....

Not a big bang for the buck mod......

  • 94-04 v6, shorties are a wast of both time and money
  • Yes, straight pipes with no mufflers sound horrible, unless you're running a turbo charger
  • Catless v6s don't sound horrible, you just need to right combo

who makes long headers for a v6? my other idea was putting headers with the cats on and putting a flowmaster 40?

First of all, I agree. That being said the mods I did, in order, are:

Dual exhaust, CAI, BBK Shorties.

Each one added something. The shorties added a low idle rumble that wasn't present before, and acceleration seems smoother. That being said, I probably wouldn't have spent the money on the shorties if I didn't have an exhaust manifold gasket leak and was going there anyway. But in the end, I am happy with them.
