I am curious on what u guys think. I hate that my v6 is a one wheel wonder and i am wondering which would be cheaper and easier to do in the long run. Changing the gears and putting a tlok or going to a junk yard and finding a good axle off of a gt or cobra that isn't a one wheel wonder?
you could easily install a new rear from a GT on your own, where you would have to pay a shop to do gears and t-lock for you.. it depends on how cheap you could get the rear end for..
The cheapest route is to just replace the open differential with a t-lock. You can do it yourself if you follow the instructions at the top of the tech page.....
i have a v6 mustang. i am planning on putting a CAI, 70mm throttle body, and headers with cat and straight pipes. I have some friends that are willing to help me if i buy the axle. If i get the axle off of a gt it wouldnt be a one wheel wonder or would i have to change it to?

The GT is a limited slip already.

If it looks right, it is right, and I decide if it looks right. Paraphrasing Sir Sydney Camm (of Hawker aircraft IIRC)
I paid $100 for my Auburn LSD that is alot stronger than the Ford factory LSD. The 8.8" rearend assembly itself is stronger than any 7.5", but considering my car will never see anywhere near the 350HP+ threshold of the 7.5" rear, I consider my $100 to be far better spent on the Auburn. It is all up to you as to the choice you want.
Under 400RWHP (and be honest to yourself) then add a LSD to the stock rear and keep the stock gears.
Changing gears and upping HP over 350RWHP then it makes sense to look for a good 8.8". I personally would still build my 7.5", but that is purely a personal choice.
Anything over 400RWHP then build a proper 9" rear end for it. 8.8" is hardly what I would use on anything I would consider a race car.
