I dont believe how you spell or use punctuations on this or any other forum is a sign of intelligence or a lack of it. We are not here to try and show how "professional" we can make our selves look.
And to be honest there hasnt been one post in here that I have not been able to figure out after reading it, granted some you have to read twice but thats it! I mean if your having that much trouble deciphering some of the slang used maybe a trip outside your comfort zone is what you need. Lets face it not everyone writes in proper form all of the time, this isnt a school paper or business report its a forum, a casual one from what I see.
Are there mistakes in my writing? Hell yeah im sure threre are, just dont see what the big deal about it is, seems a little anal to me.
On this board it doesn't matter, but if you post on forums where people look up to you and respect you and ask a lot of questions like about what you have done to your car etc, and you have met the people in real life then i can understand that. My dad posts on the Vette forums and people always ask questions because he has owned 3 Vettes and two have been at John Lingenfelter's shop, etc.

I might seem a little anal to you, but let me give you my perspective. English is not my first language, it is my third. I grew up in Spain. I started school in Spain, so that’s what I learned in school. My father spoke English, and my mother and grandmother spoke Turkish at home. My playmates spoke Spanish and Portuguese, and their mother and father was best friends with my parents. So I grew up learning multiple languages.
I also live in several countries in Europe (Spain, Turkey, France, Germany, and Italy), and have been to every Western European country that falls within the EU except for Austria. I even have been to Poland. I have literally taken many trips out side of my comfort zone, both physically and intellectually.
I understand the difference between slang and crappy English. I also know that I am not perfect, and my English is far from perfect. I make every attempt to run things thru the spell checker and grammar checker to make things easier people to read. I expect at least half the common courtesy from everyone else to at least make their post readable and understandable the first time around.
Nobody should struggle to re-read any post more than once, due to really crappy English. This is especially true if people expect someone to be able to help then with their issue. I’m not saying everyone needs to be a professional typist or anything like that. I do expect to see some miss-spelled words, and a little bit of grammar issues. I also don’t mind some slang words.
I do mind when people write like this…
Quote:
“Me car no work, go 5th gear then bam car stopped. Me engine still on and me still in gear. I then try 1st gear and no go. I gets out and hood open. I no see anyting rong. So me tri again stil no go. I call tow cmpany and to get me car home. Toe truck guy see metal shaft down street. He pic up then lift me car. Me car missing metal shaft. Look like it broke at connection joint. Why is this, what it called? How no’s how to fix me up? “
That was typed by a person that only speaks English, and graduated from high school. It is understandable, which is the only good thing about the post. So am I being anal? Or am I asking for some common courtesy?
After carefull review of the AUP (acceptable Use Policy), I fail to see where it states we MUST use the Queens English in this forum. This forum is available throughout the globe. Therefore, we have many different languages trying to communicate to other Mustang enthusists (sp? who cares?).
I have read many posts, and to be honest it isn't a big deal if someone's post isn't punctuated correctly or without spelling errors. We all are here because of the love of the MUSTANG and it's following. Get over it!

Learned what in school? You grew up in Spain so we are suppose to understand which subject you are referring to here? I know you had more than one subject. I can only assume you are talking about Spanish.

Should "was" be really "were"?

Crappy? Isn't "crappy" a slang word? I do believe the word "crappy" should be substituted with the word "improper" .

I think you are having a bad day. Whether a person uses and/or types proper English or not, doesn't make them any less of a person. I will try to figure out thier post and assist them if I can anyway. You do not know if the person has a learning disability or not. Not everyone can be gifted in being multiligual as yourself. What does matter is the person is in need of assistance and simply loves the Mustang as we all do.
If that is the case then every post i use from now on i will not check my spelin and will not use commas or apostrofees and will just make it as difficult as i can without actually going out of my way to do so i just will not capitalize past the very first word then maybe just not use periods and stuff and when i type (normally they're their or there) ill just use 'there' for everything and u can choose which i wanted to actually use same for its and its and your and your wooo fun fun
