How did a spelling and grammer post become political? This is what caused the last post to be closed....it became too heated and too far off topic!
I meant you can simply post a warning, and if it continues then lock it.
And so what if this is off topic? Or becomes heated? Its a good discussion and people obviously want to explore it. As long as it stays clean enough in the eyes of who ever is monitoring it, it shouldnt be an issue. Things being heated does not make it a bad thing.
How much is there to really say about spelling and grammar? The people to whom you are refering already know who they are and obviously don't care. If their posts are difficult to decipher, ignore it. Maybe they will start to proof read their posts if they quit getting responses.
If you wanted to discuss FOS, you should've titled this thread accordingly. More than half of the confusion on these boards could be resolved by properly naming threads. If people would title their posts more descriptively, it would make it a lot easier to decide which threads are worth reading and which ones to pass over.
The reason why I closed this thread is simple, 2 members went too far and ruined a good conversation. As for freedom of speech, AFM is all for it, to a certain extent. We feel that as long as there is an intelligent, mature conversation going on, a thread should remain open. If the thread drops down to jr. high name calling, I will close it. There have been many threads that I felt that should have been closed that I have left open. As Ron pointed out, this is a very good conversation, and will be open until someone starts calling others nasty names or has fowl language.
Now here is a reason for proper grammar......Today I started to train a new person at work, this woman was able to read a few e-mails that I was responding to and had a VERY hard time following along with what was written in them. I have personally spoken with the people that wrote e-mails with poor grammar and spelling, and I know that they speak properly. My new co-worker was VERY appalled with what she was reading and instantly thought poorly of them. To support my fellow trainers across the country, I quickly pointed out that I am the only person in my position that does not have a college degree.

Were quite obviously past the spelling and grammar. The reason I chose to use the same title is because this thread is still very much related to the original and I wasnt done with it. So this is def titled appropriately. Everyone obviously got that. As far as people not caring, take a closer look youll see Shartley replied so obviously some one cares. : )
No, I said that the people with poor language skills do not care. I never said that the people trying to read the aforementioned posts don't care. I've never seen Shartley post any illegible comments. Therefor, what I said is still true. You have not converted any poor writers. Nobody has "seen the light" due to this thread. Nobody will use better writing skills because you've asked them to. It all boils down to another mistitled thread.

We're wasn't def. you'll
Check the thread, I never asked anyone to use better writing that was someone else, you obviously have me confused with the person who I was originaly talking to. (I was against the whole proper writing) I never said Shartley made any illegible comments. What it boils down to is you not reading the thread all the way through and responding with the facts confused.
To hell with it all, how about everyone just use Ebonics and kill this subject because I really wish I didn't bring this to the Board of American English Language Translation and Freedom of Speech Board.
I have read the entire thread and I am not confused as to the facts. The fact is that Shartley is correct about FOS being almost nonexistant in the private realm, but it goes much deeper than that. FOS is an illusion the gov't pretends to extend to us. I've seen people peacefully express their "freedom" and be beaten, jailed and fined. Surely these people are not executed, as they would be in other countries but deaths have occured for merely expressing opinions.
Think about this. This site is a privately owned and operated public forum. If it were a publicly owned forum then you would have an argument, but this site is not a democracy. The owner/operator and moderators can pretty much do as they please, within the limits of the law and the Bill of Rights.
Don't get me wrong, I beleive in freedom of speach, but I also beleive that nobody deserves to be flamed, and BOTH threads have degraded enough to me that I am about to close this one too. lighten up and remember that we come here for fun, not to get ticked off or tick other people off.
