Older a car gets the more likely parts will fail. All cars not just fords or mustang will experience deteriation as they get older. A car that is well maintaned early in life wil be in better condition as it gets older. What was the history of this car before you started driving it? Has it been owned by a family member or close friend since new? I have a 94 V6 manual trans stang with 104k miles on it, I bought it new right before xmas in '93. Still has original head gasket (with no sign of failure yet), the timing cover gasket was replaced around 20k miles. I've replaced the multifunction switch 3 times, heater fan 4 times, on the fourth set of tires, second set of brakes, resealed the trans, replaced springs and struts and so forth. The A/C still blows cold the car only makes a few squeeks and rattles. Go buy a honda or toyota put a big ass wing on the back, a loud stereo and coffee can tailpipe and be like everyone else your age or be an individual and keep your Mustang.

Yeah I hope it's been just a malfuntion. After taking apart the orig engine it looked like it was taken care of. but everything just started going down hill sinc I bought and now it's just dead every week.

I started this post 6-12-04, guess what, CEL is back on, 6-23-04 so 10 -11 days of subtle peace, damn it, I wonder if Im still going to get an incomplete and no codes again YAY.... Sigh

At least the tie rod is fixed, been a major highlight, no more rattles.

Why does it bother u so bad.U could be driving a Camaro. The reason i say that is every Camaro I have seen that is from 93-97 always has the check engine light on.My friends 94 does my other friends 95 does.Hell i was test driving a 97 Z and driving for 15 mins and the light came on.Its no biggy.Just ignore it.Doesnt mean your engine is messed up.I will tell u this though.I dont care if your car is blown or about to throw a rod the check engine light wont know. They are more anoying then anything

I want to save up a bit, and buy a new ECU.

so major probs, the ECU and Tie Rodss.

Personally I think this car prolly has 150k+ miles on the body. and had the miles rolled back to 87 when I bought it.
Take the car to PHP. I think you need a dedicated Mustang Specialist to go through the whole car.

I just noticed you've got an H-pipe. Is it running ok?

It's probably just an O2 sensor.

yeah the H pipe is alright,I had to cut my pipes in half though to take out the trans, and I just sleeved them back together and just clamped the sleeves to hold it there but that was way after the H and the sensors, everything fluctuation correctly, good jumps.

The light doesnt bother me, but I rather it was off then on, lol. and a camaro would be better, I know it, chevy knows how to make a v8. But I sitll choose Ford over them, dunno why, but I do. more of a Ford fan than a Chevy lol, don't tempt to go out and buy a camaro! Yeah the CEL didn't come on when the crankshaft bearings blew, I'm just annoyed by it coming on and the computer not completing tests, it's not the engine i'm worried about, it's the electrical problems, they do more than any mechanical problem.

how many miles?

If the engine is running ok, 9x/10 it's an o2 sensor.
