The Newer cars out there have a gadget thats called a govenor, therefore ethier 1 or 2 things happen you reach a certain MPH and you stop Acceling or it slows down the RPM's not allowing you to go past a certain MPH, yes you can prob remove the GOV, would i recomened it. NO.

I'm not positive, but aren't the '98's 150 HP? With 150 HP STOCK that sounds about right You're not going to have a great surge from 90 mph to 100 mph. The V6 Mustangs '99-'04 I believe are all 193 HP. i COULD BE WRONG! Wouldn't be the first time. I bought my first Mustang last year ('03 V6 PONY). It has 193 HP. I have to be careful (because I'm a LEAD FOOT). 100 mph comes impressively quick. I do 100 mph at least once a day for psyche sake. I don't think I should be allowed to own a Cobra. I'd be in court once a month! JUST ENJOY YOUR STANG FRIEND, how often are going 100 mph anyway?

Mustang Mike.. You are correct.

Although I more often here the numbers 190 or 195. Not that the 5HP makes THAT much of a difference.

Good to hear everyone is okay.

My 95 v6 hits 100 easy as pie. In fact, from 80-100 takes virtually not time at all when you put the foot into it. Maybe my baby is special? (She is very quick when rolling… from a dead stop though…… uggg. Yes I have stock gears.)

Shartley.. is your idle adjusted higher? I think that can make some difference. My idle is a bit higher than most Stang's I have driven/ridden in and she can really take off.

I always warn people if I let them drive my car. Putting it in Driive or Reverse whatever... She moves!

Nope, I don’t think it is a high idle. I just checked and it is about 800.

Sure, if I give it some gas and then launch it will do “okay”, but I have to admit it will be left behind by most of the imports on the road….. that is until she gets rolling, then I leave them behind.

I have nooooo problem hitting 100mph and I've got an '02 automatic with the stock 3.27s. I love how little effort it takes for me to go from the 45 of an on-ramp to the 85 of the fast lane. Sometimes I forget to back off until I'm at 90-95. Oops.

I try to avoid going over 90. A few bad experiences with the men in blue... plus I've pretty much come to the conclusion that on a divided freeway, I've got no business going over 85 or so. On a 1x1 highway, I can see myself suicide-passing at 100-105 or so, but that's out in the middle of nowhere where I give myself at least 30 seconds of visibility.

stock... unless a small Red Sox sticker on the corner of the back window counts as a mod!

I hit 120 no problem with my 94 what's up with that?

and Mustangs are all top end, a v6 can top end better than 4 cyl I blow all the civics away at top end.
I launched for the first time like a month ago, there is a huge difference. but still would be eaten up by rice, but I leave them way in the dust when we get moving

glad to hear everyone is alright, and that you having someoen fix it, and soon, I crashed mine and tore up the front end had to do all the fixing myself short of the paint job :\
