Default 1st time V-6 Mustang owner

Hi,
Just wanted to say hello and intro my self. I just bought my 1st Mustang, an '04, late today. Shes black with

grey int., 5-speed manual, and came with the "Pony" package. I have been a long time Lincoln Town Car

driver (1975, 1979 x2, 1996) and a few LTDs, and one Ford F-250. Wanted something with more "kick" and

sporty-ness to it. Now I bought one before my 3rd year of college (started kind of late). Before I ramble on,

just wanted to say "hey" and its nice to see there is a good following for the underrated Mustang V-6.

Regards,
Jonathan

Welcome to AFM.
Any questions feel free to ask.
Yeah it may not be a V* but the 6's have some kick still.
I may get a new one, for the economy and keep my old V8 for weekend fun.

Default Great People and Advice

Yes to Good People

I picked up my Blazing Yellow V-6 Ragtop last Thursday and have recieved very good advice and lots of friends in the past week. This and the Tech side are super. Just wish I could use all the advice but us Califorians just simply have weird smog laws. Can only make 2 mods for power. I have my hot rod 69 for the weekend nights but the 04 ragtop is a great cruser.

Default Gas Slip

Don't i wish about the gas slip. The 69 get 6-9 mpg around town depending how deep the foot is in the carb and cam.

I'm getting around 22 or so city, and 33-35 highway, depending on which way the wind is blowing. On really windy days (20+mph) I can get as low as 25 mpg highway.

I havn't done my highway mpg but it's not much better I drove like a 180 miles and used up 3/4 of my tank.

I usually only go 140 miles and use up 3/4 of my tank in town. i average 200 miles a tank. which IMO is not too bad for me. so highway i prolly could get about 240. which would blow my ******* pants off lol.

this is why buying a GT just wouldn't bother me really all that much haha

Yep, you bought a V-6 for your first Stang just like I did. The only problem is is that you get this" bug" where you want to add this and that to make it look, sound, and run like a GT. I added this and that to my ' 98 V-6 and could never quite get it to be a GT. The next thing you know I was down at the local Ford Store " just looking" and drove out with at a 2002 GT. I still miss my '98 sometimes. I got more compliments on it than I ever have with my GT. It was a sharpe looking ride. I tried to keep it and buy the GT, but I couldn't afford to keep both. Just a warning, watch out for the BUG. It usually comes with owning a Mustang. I keep looking at Mach 1s now.

You've gotta stay outta that throttle a little bit. I have a '94 5.0 and I can get 270 miles on a tank of 15.2 gallons, and I get on her hard about two-three good times a day. LOL

I too don’t see very good mileage with my 94. But it is because I have a heavy foot and don’t let my car roll up to speed…. I DRIVE it.

My wife however gets great mileage in all of our vehicles.

the thing is I get 200 mpt feathering the pedal. O_O I smell gasoline all over my car I think their is a vaccum pump leak or the pump itself is a lil tired. origianl from 94 :\ also my exhaust alone kills the mileage also :\ 2 1/4 Hpipe mendral bent.
