I got this friend that is really jealous of me because I got a new v6 mustang, so he keeps throwing in my face that his little 89, 2.3l, ranger can whoop my a$$ just because he has no govener. It gets on my nerves so bad but I never knew if he could. I just want to know the answer, can he??? It is a stick and mines auto but mine seems so strong. Im about to get flowmasters, performance chip, and cold air intake and when I told him this he just laughed and said he still could whip my "Hot Wheels Car" which he calls it. Sometime I just wanna race him but I dont really know if I can win since I got a govener. I just wanted to get it straightned up. But if he can beat me I still look ALOT better, o did I tell ya about all the rust he haves, lol.

I've had a 2.3 litre Ranger before. Trust me, those things can not beat much of anything. And this thing about the "not having a governor" is BS. The Ranger's governor is the engine itself. With 105hp, he doesn't have much room to talk. Just race the guy, but make sure you throw some cash down so he puts forth his best effort.

It is all talk. You can “take” him NOW without the mods you have planned. Even if by chance he was faster off the line, once your car is rolling you will soon only see him in your rear view.

Plus, by the time he reaches YOUR top end you would have been long gone. Not to mention that most people tend to back out after reaching the magic 100 anyways… more so if their vehicle is not designed to go that fast and remain stable…. And I doubt a Ranger would feel too solid at 100+.

So just smile at him and let him live in his dream world. They say not to wake people up when they are sleepwalking, it could cause some real psycological damage.

i had a 1996 2.3 ranger it had a speed limiter set at 95 mph.

You can take him easy.

A govenor and god knows how he removed(ask him I'd liek to hear his answer...haha) it only halts the car from reaching it's top end.

I believe yours is governed at 115? and his although free (so called) ungoverned 2.3 will prolly only make it about 100-105 but that would take forever.

You can beat him NO PROBLEM AT ALL. Stick or not, it's unmodded everytime he switches gears you'll be riding out your long ass gears and i dknow he wont be power shifting unless he wants to say good buy to his trans. so he'll shift take his foot off his gas and you'll fly right by enough to get ahead of him and once a mustang gets ahead there is no coming back for that other car unless it had a turbo because you'll just out torque the ******* and keep on rollin

Whenever I win a race, it's like this because mines an automatic too. if Im beaten off the line I have a slim chance of passing but good chance of keeping up if the opponant looses off the line They see dissapearing taillights.

go set his ass straight... at a track humiliate him and it's legal. lol Or if you know a safe area near town where there are no cops or pedestrians.... but that's illegal so I dont reccomend that.... hehe

His brother is just as dumb. He's 21 years old and lives in georga, he RENTED a 2004 Focus and came to visit his family for the weekend, he brought the car over the day I bought mine and said hed whoop my butt with the focus because my car was weak, he said he hit 110 and thinks he's badass when he was probally going down hill and his speedometer says 140. Like it will go that fast. My friend also has another UGLY ford ranger that is 4x4 and had some so called things done to the motor(its a v6) and can beat me, he has like 3 different tires on it and the bed is only 4ft. Hes a good friend Ive known him for 9 years but when it comes to racing he just turns dumb. He also says that little 2.3 ranger can hit 120 and when he did the front end started to get lite.

Rangers are cheap trucks. My father buys about 100 a year from Ford dealership where we live for all his delivery trucks for all the auto parts stores he has. They do their job of haulin parts from point a to point b, thats it.

Dude, it does not matter if he can get up too 100, even up too 90. almost ever car out there can go high speeds, the difference is you will get there a lot faster. it what you've got of the line that counts.

Im feeling really bad for him now because just recentally his dad SEVERALLY fractured his back and came up to me and started ballin on my shoulder, the way he did could make even the strongest man cry, I felt so bad.
