Hello! Right now, I have a V6 engine with only the cold air system and exhaust modded. My friend is trying to sell me his V8 engine. My engine is currently manual, but his is automatic though. What do you guys think about that? Can it be done and should I do it?
engines arent manual or automatic....thats just the transmission. You need to find out what kind of engine it is, as it will most likely not work with your transmission. But yes it can be done, yes if the price is right you should do it and yes you need to determine exactly what engine it is......is it from a mustang or what?

What year Mustang do you have? Often times it's not worth the hassle of swapping a 6 out for an 8 because often times you need to swap out a LOT of other things like the tranny, rear end, radiator, wiring harness, etc. It's often cheaper to just sell the car and buy something with a V8 already installed.

YA, you could be talking 5.0, 5.4, ro 4.7 to name a few. but i know there are more ford V8s out there, tose are just the only ones i like. oh, and the 427.

more to come in time.
If the engine is a '97 4.6, it's not worth the effort in my opinion. Your V6 is only 22hp shy of the '96-'98 4.6's. You could easily make up that power with simple bolt-ons, or make even more power with a supercharger.
If you're still dead set on swapping out the engines, you'll need to replace the:
Radiator
Rear end
Wiring Harness
Computer
Exhaust
Driveshaft?
Transmission
Motor mounts
Things you will need if they're not included with the V8 you have:
Alternator
Starter
Exhaust manifolds/Headers
Intake manifold
Flywheel & Clutch
Intake piping and filter

I got a question . My buddie has a 2000 v-6 . Well , he wants a carbed 331 in there . I checked everything out and it looks like a pretty easy swap . what I'm wondering is , can I just use motor mounts from like a 94 - 95 5.0 ? Will they bolt in to his k-member ? Thats the only thing i see that will give us trouble

I'm fairly certain you'd need to swap the K-member out for a '94-'95 V8 K-member.

hey, I have a 2005 V6 mustang. This summer I would like to put a 302 smallblock V8 in it. The engine, i thing, will fit into the car with minor adjustments.
what else to i need to do??
I have the new computer for the engine (V8) and i have a standard trany (5spd).
this car will be used for roadracing (Gt style racing) not drag.
also what is the widest back tire i can fit into the car?? I figure 10.5-11 inch. same width as the corvette back tire.
