WHOA, I don't know what happened...
any how, I think it's funny you got caught, where you on the highway or street? You tried to out run a cop in a V6, come on now, what where you thinking?
I have out run a cop once, not to bea bad guy, I felt like I was standing up for my rights. I was stopped at a red light, getting ready to turn right, they stopped at a green light, waited for me to turn, then tried to pull me over. I was so pissed, I just said f*ck you, waved BYE BYE out the window and smashed. It was like 130am, so the road was empty. I was doing +100mph before they even know I was running, I don't know what I topped at, I was to busy driving. I went about 2 miles straight, then banked a easy right at about 35 degrees into a large, empty parking lot, I shook'em by doubling back behind the building then parking in an apartment complex. In the end, It took'em 3 days to catch me!!! I pulled out of the store one evening, and guess who happened to be driving down the road, you guessed it, same officer, so go figure... LOL You always get caught in the end...
I know for a fact that they tried to keep up when I ran though, and they could NOT gain on me. I was in an 87 GTA 350 Trans Am, with a few mods.

This time around it's a 95GT Conv AODE
Stock they're like 224hp, with 265 lb-ft of torque and they weigh 4057 lbs. But I read somewhere that they have a police package option, that gives them the same numbers as a mustang except for weight. And if the car is only used for radar, they might have even supercharged it.
Current Mods: 3.55 gears(?), C&L Plenum, 70mm TB, white face gauges, LCAs and Sub-frames (waiting), JLT RAI, Mac Catback
Mods up next: Mid-length headers, mid-pipe
Mods in the near future: Heads, internals, and misc. engine things.
Mods in far future: Complete new suspension, new wheels, and complete body repaint and repair(to fix the dings of daily driving)... and then make her a weekend only car.
It's not the car so much as it is the training that makes officers fast. Thats why you see Crown Vics chase down guys in cars that will out preform them. Thats the case around here anyway. We had a media event at a S.C.C.A. National here once that pitted city, county, and state police officers in an autoX. I was truly amazed by the car control these officers displayed. These officers weren't 'ringers' either, just the same officers I've seen out on patrol for years in the area.
There is nothing worth trying to out run a police officer. You have maybe a 5% chance of getting away, and probably about a 70% chance of hurting or killing an innocent party. It's the fastest way I know to turn a simple traffic violation into a charge of vehicular homicide.

This is very true.
So, folks just need to know the cars are FAST. And they need to know that you can not outrun the radio, police seldom work alone when in a chase situation and most of the time you “think” you have outrun them, you didn’t. In fact, departments have rules covering what they can and can’t do when it comes to chases.
Also know that the police drive the streets MUCH more than you do, after all, that is how they get around and where they WORK. They also know the limits of their cars much better than most folks know theirs as well. And they can combine these two things to allow them to not make mistakes YOU would make when driving…. Thus allowing them to stay with you, or not let you “get away”, whether you see them in your rear view or not.
I will echo SaleenOwner’s statement….. There is nothing worth trying to our run a police officer for. It can never help you, only hurt you legally, physically, or worse, hurt someone else.

How did that go? I want to know what happened now! lol
The Crown Vics are your run of the mill 4.6, I suspect you probably were out driven in a urban area. Open road my issued Crown Vic was only capable of about 115 mph but it was quick for it's weight. Stranely enough they are all different, some are faster than others with comparable mileage one might be quite a bit quicker than another. I have been out ran by a Buick Regal with a 231 on a long straight away. The Caprices on the other hand are amazingly fast, give it up if one of those gets behind you. Better yet don't run at all it isn't worth it!!!!! Running from the police to get out of a ticket is STUPID. Take the ticket it's better than a FELONY conviction. Trust me, if you are out in an remote area driving like a fool to see what your car has got,or even showing off a little in town, most cops will understand. They may stroke you a ticket but they understand. Alot of them are performance enthusiast themselves. A ticket is not the end of the world!
