Wink How many quarts of oil does my car hold???

I just changed my 2001 Stangs oil for the first time today and I didnt know how many quarts to put in it. So I kept filling it up till I got to 5 1/2 but wasnt really close to the line were it says max so I wanted to to know what the correct amount was. Also I bought but havnt used some The OutLaw Fuel Injection cleaner and wondered it it was any good or not, and the same brand has some octane boost and I was wondering if that stuff actually worked and wasnt all hype. One more thing, I currently have no spoiler but I was wondering If I should get one. I heard not to and I have heard to do so, I got one of those digital cameras for christmas and I will take a picture and let you all decid ur selfs, you will be able to see my new 18inch wheels!!!!!!!!!

my year specifies 5 quarts, i use about 5 1/2 'cause my motor burns about a half quart at 1000 miles,(especially during summer) i find that six is too much though.

really, yours burns oil? That's odd. Mine, from what I can tell, does not - I tend to put the dipstick in once every few hundred miles to make sure, since I'm racking up the miles (58300 as of last count). How many miles in yours?

Default How much oil?

I've got a '96 GT and the owners manual and the service manual (Chilton) both say 5 qts with a filter change and 6qts for a Cobra. It takes 6.5 to bring it up to the full line on the dipstick on mine so I'm wondering if I have the right dipstick or what. This is one of the first 4.6's made so I'm wondering if they started out with the larger oil pan like on the Cobra's. Anyone have any info about this?

I got here by way of the search button. Didn't know it was on a v-6 forum.

Thanks, I just got off the phone with Ford and was also told 5 qts. I just drained almost 2 qts out and will put about 1/2 qt of it back in.
