WHY???????? Any weight savings would be mininal. They save lives and reduce injury. Leave 'em alone.
i take it you got a sn-95? well i got rid of mine .....the driver side is easy just 2 screws on the back of the wheel make shure you un hook the batt first!!!! pass side is harder must remove the glove box and the screws are up there but its not fun to get at.

i removed both air bags but then reinstalled the driverside air bag. the passenger side weighs roughly 10lbs. both of them are absolutely easy to take out. i just cut off the dash cover from the pass. side air bag and put it back in place. for inspection though i have to go to a private inspector, cause the air bag light will stay on. the p/s airbag: remove the 3 screws that hold the glove box and remove the box. then remove the two screws that hold the airbag assy. i thing their 7mm. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY COMLETELY, FIRST!
i'm selling the passenger side air bag assy. w/o the dash cover.
ps. i did this on my 94....i was gonna do it too on my '00 but i was told that the air bag circuit goes through the ecu, so i would probably have problems, like not passing inspection even at a private place. i think that applies to all '96+ (obd ii) cars.
hey guy's... the reason i'm taking them out is because they have deployed :-( (bought it that way) so sorry i don't have any to sell. i'm going to replace the driver side, but the passenger side i'm leaving out ( going to make an extra storage area ) i would'nt want it blowing up in my duaghters face... unlike a new car i can't switch off the passenger side bag.
and beside's i don't think i have to pass an inspection in CA?... but the light would be annoying how can i shut it off?.

I was in an accident and found out air bags hurt more than help
Seatbelt saves lives, airbags give morons who don't use seat belts some chance of surviving. and in smite it punches them in the face. Curtain Airbags help. front... if thay made a curtain front i'd say it help.

Pull out the light. but to actually make the airbags work they need to be professionally installed and computer needs to be reoformatted. I believe. My airbags deplpyed and I got new ones but it needed computer work and I took it to a pro. got 2 air bags for 800 ^^ i think my driver came out of a Ranger. lol anyone know where to get a mustang face though?

It all depends on how big of an accident your in . I`ve seen cars that were wrecked so hard that the air bag would have been the only way the driver would have survived . Now , if it is just a small fender bender / deer hit then yes getting smacked by an air bag could be harsh .
I work in an auto body garage and have replaced many air bags . For the most part they are easy to do . Just replace the modual whenever you replace the bags . If your buying them from a salvage yard they should come all three pieces . Always remember , that ANY part of the air bag system not pluged / spent in will disable the entire system
