Question Mustang 99 seatbelt problem and other stuff

I am having problems with seatbelt on my v6 99 mustang. After I use it will not roll back to its retainer. I have to push it back. How can i fix this problem. The other problem is that the ac was not working. I figured that it was the compressor however i took the car to a "professional " that connected a wire from the compressor to a switch on the firewall to bypass the computer" as i was told". The ac is now working but i was wondering if this wire might mess up the car computer?

My car has the same problem.

Might have to replace the belts. (I"m going to remove the molding first to see if its just tangled).

Call your dealership on the seatbelt issue. Seatbelts are a vital safety device and (I think) have a lifetime warranty regardless of whether you're the original owner. (I read that somewhere on the internet, so it might not be reliable. Call the dealership to make sure.)

Regarding your AC. Find another professional. If this is the same "fix" as was done on my car (a Ford Tempo) many years ago, it's going to do more harm than good. The mechanics did something similar to my car, which caused the AC to run ALL THE TIME. Even in cold weather. It caused frost to form on the coils inside the dash. Not good, especially since we were living in Texas at the time and the coil would get so clogged with frost that no air would come through. Get if fixed right. What they did is probably not the best thing for your car.

i think there is a recall on those seatbelts, my '00 does the same thing on the driver side. i took it to ford but apparantly my car did not fall under the recall.

as for the ac compressor (i'm pretty sure truck and car systems work the same) maybe it's not working cause there's no pressure in the system (no refregerant), the compressor will not run, as a safety, so that it won't seize up. if the low press. switch was bypassed, the compressor will be destroyed when it runs dry.

My '02's seatbelt constaly gets wound around itself. have to take the molding off about 3 times amonth to untalgle it.

as for your AC use your 2-60 AC (dumb joke--2 windows down at 60 MPH)

Yeah, had the same problem on my drivers side with my 00', got it fixed the day I bought it. About a month later, I let my girlfriend drive my car, so I got in the passenger seat and the seat belt was messed up. I asked my girlfriend how long it was like that and she told me the whole time. She didnt tell me when I was getting the other side fixed because she thought I would be mad about it!! damn women! Now I just make her deal with it when she rides in my car. lol

Default no luck with the seat belt

i called my local ford dealer today. Since my car has more than 56,000 miles, it does not qualify for the seatbelt repair. I was inform that the car must have less then 50,000 miles to qualify under the warranty.

It shouldn't have to be a recall in order to get your seatbelts fixed. well i guess in Kansas where i live, it's a state law that all seatbelts have to perform without any flaw for at least ten years. If not, your local dealership will replace them for free. I just got mine redone about a month ago. and i have a 00' mustang, nothing out of my pocket. Check with your state maybe at your local dept. of motor vehicle, they should know.:thumbsup
