I picked an 04 GT perfect with 2k mi for 19k and I love it! I'm new but I don't think you can build a better 4 or 6 than an 8. Hang tough, be patient, like Punxsy Stang said this is a big deal for you and you don't want any regretsbesides, I believe loyalty is it's own reward, if you love something, you love it which meens you stick even if it takes a little more work. Best of luck whatever you decide . Larry
I'm going to have to defend to 4.0 v6 at this point because I had a 93 Aerostar that went 118k trble free miles til got rearended and totaled. I wanted another, so bought a used 3.0,reluctantly, but it was short version and ran great for 140k without any problems and I sold it to my son and he still has it and now has 190k and still going. I bought a 99explorer with 45k on the clock and still have it and my wife has put 50k more on it and still going strong. None of these engines required oil between changes of 4k. I don't know where the b ad rap is coming from as I haven't heard any.
I test drove 05 v6 and was impressed, but I wanted a GT, and have been waiting 2 mos now for it to arrive since I ordered it.
There's already aftermarket support from GM's skunkworks.
The 4.0L hasn't been very reliable, but they reworked it last year -time will tell.
Dewd knows what he's talking about, he's been on the v6 boards for quite a while now . ..
Guess I`ve been lucky . I`ve now owned five ford rangers and four out of the five had V6 `s ( and were also 4x4`s ) in them . I`ve been happy with all of them and have been thinking about tradeing up to ranger number six soon . I must admit , none of them had high miles on them though . The highest was 53K . I also don`t beat my trucks and change oil at every 3K . Maybe thats the difference .
And Yes , the GM 2.2 and 2.4 motors are good engines . I have owned some of them too . The only real complaint I`ve heard about them have been head gaskets . But isn`t the SC a new twist on these engines ?
Anyways , wasn`t trying to make anybody mad . Just trying to shed a different out look on things . good luck dewd !

No you're totally right. But the thing about the supercharger is that I think it works well. These are high RPM engines. which would benefit a SC. So if they make the correct compression engine and neccesary internals, which I see Chevy doing with their engines. It will be a unique placement. I think it would work well and mostly just pretty intrigued and interested. certainly shakes things up, such as all 4 cyl cars are being turboed I think a SC is a great form of diversity that may come out on top, so we'll see ^^
For less than the price of a new Colbolt you can probably find a very nice low mileage 2003 -2004 Mustang GT. The dealers in my area have quite afew 03- 04 GT's on the used car lot that are very clean and low mileage. Go to you dealer and ask them to look out for one. Many times they will go to an auction and pick up a specific car if they have a customer looking a certain model.

Yeah, I forgot. GM cars are so desireable that they have to give them away with 0% or a Kazillion dollar rebate. No one in their right mind would actually buy one for full price.
Just make sure the engine isnt made in China. THats where GM seems to be heading. They are talking about building cars in CHina, and they even brought some off road car here to be sold in America. Dunno why. CHineses make crappy products and for some damn reason, Americans loving going to WalMart and buying that crap. I pray and hope Ford never goes Chinese. If thats every the case, im gonna buy me an American built Toyota.

Labor rates would be next to nothing in China . Lets also not forget that their would be less cost all the way around . No EPA , No unions, No Benefits , No safety regulations to speak of .
Being that China now lets more of her people own cars and drive maybe that might be another reason for GM to set up shop over there . They say that is some of the reason that gas prices are so high . More gas demand from Chinese drivers

More reason for us to not do business with China. We do want to get rid of the Commies, right? Just look at the Soviet and Eastern Europe. Enough with the buying of Chinese crap.

Pshhht!
It's slave labor from all the pro democracy folks in Tienamen Square, and their kids.
The gas prices are due more to the dollar's slide. 50% since 2000.

KS ,
A friend of mine spent alittle over two months in China . The company he was working for at the time did business over there and he had to go over , to over see the set up of equipment sold .
He said as soon as he steped off the plane he could tell he was in a third world country . Most of the every day amenities that we take for granted were not there . He was in a city about the size of Pittsburgh . The first thing he stated about was the raw sewerage pumped into the river . How bad the stench was when ever crossing the bridge going to the plant he was working at . He said as bad as that was what was even worse was for those who did not have running water in the homes they would just empty their waste right in the streets at night . And yes , you have to boil all water before useing any of it .
The next thing he told about was the way the chinese people worked . They did just about everything by hand . Example , if they were going to be digging a ditch or a foundation it was done with shovels and picks . It would be nothing to see several guys pushing wheel barrels across town to empty them . They had moded bicycles for carrying tools and supplies too .
modern equipment like backhoes and escavators are only used as a last resort .
The plant he was setting up in was massive . But alot of the windows were broken out . He said it would be so cold in their that it was hard to get the hydraulics to work right in the presses . That safety was a non issue . One example he gave was : home made bambo ladders were used to climb into the press pits . That waste was dumped down the drains . He said it was nothing to see employees in the field behind the plant squating and useing it as a restroom . He said that human life in China does not have the same meaning as here . If some one loses an arm at work , they don`t care . Their is no sueing the plant owner , the communist goverment . But if you recall Tienamen Square news coverage , the goverment had no problem killing her own people . Running them over with tanks . Or if you have caught the news lately about all the coal mine explotions in China and the extremely high death rates in all of them .
Being he has been my friend for many years I tend to believe the impressions and statements he has told me . And the fact that he came home before the job was done and refused to return to China to finish up the equipment install and training .

I was at K-State during the massacre, we hid a number of our classmates until they could file for refugee status. I learned Chinese in Jr. High and High School in Topeka, so I could talk to them.
I'll never forget getting blasted on sake for the Chinese New Year with those guys. Once you learn how to drink it, it makes shots of tequila child's play. You inhale it.
But, I could never conceive then the degree to which we are now supporting the Chinese Gov't and forgetting all the people who died for democracy that day.
