Yeahhh... I love mustang till the end of my days, but I don't want to go back to the v6... and I really want the v8 but since dealers are pricing the GT over 30 k. I can't buy it.
My car is slowly going
and for 21 k... get a nice supercharged Chevy Cobalt SS.... It looks pretty nice. I'm not ecstatic about the FWD... but it looks like a fun car, great body, the other ones look ugly but the SS looks nice. At least Chevy dealers wont price a nice car 5-6 thousand over MSRP. If the prices of the GT goes down to 26 k or so I might come back
I've been wondering how much horse those SS Cobalts have?

200 some-odd hp, but they're lightweight . . .
nice little cars, but I'd wait for the pontiac solstice.
you have to remember that the 24999 price on the GT is a base price. Dealers generally don't order many base cars.
you'll probably have to special order to get the price you want.
Or fly out of state and drive back. There are a few around here.
Go online, and check out surrounding state inventories . . .

Have you driven the new V6? It is a bargain if you ask me. They are great cars for the money. I went in to order a GT too but I couldn't afford it. But I am VERY happy with my V6, paid only $19,200 and ordered one with exactly what I wanted that I received in less then 4 weeks.
I don't know where you are but I would check around, there has got to be a Ford dealer that has what you want or can get you what you want.

Well as for the 96 cobra... I defiently do it... I just don't want to deal with a used car again. this will be my car that's going to need to last me 10 years.
Yeah the Cobalt is a nice little lightweight. 205 hp Supercharged engine, and hopefully some aftermarket will be out with in the year.
Yes I have test driven a 2005 v6. I like them. But I don't trust the explorer 4.0- and I've had a v6 for a long time, and Im tired of seeing Camaros GTs or anything around me with these great sounding high performance vehicles making my car look like junk. Although it looks good I get plenty compliments wherever I go... but it never has the go.
The Gt is my only other option from here. I have been optioning maybe a 2004 Mach 1. But the retroness, the reliablity, the sturdiness of the 05s always turn me away from the 04s.
Maybe I just need to wait it out. I have found GTs for like 26k which fit my description. So Im sure it will arise again sometime. Just too anxious and my car is running out of time.
We'll see. Where I stand now I'd prolly be closer ot a 05 v6 or cobalt, but I really wnt to feel that v8.
We'll see.
Also... I have looked. I'll go about anywhere for the right price. trailer it back. Just don't have the money right now. hopefully with in the year

As for now... I'm thinking of going to Chevy.
Wish me luck.
Hell get the SS camaro at least, the cobalts suck my friend has one after 800 miles the throttle sensor broke, the cornering is terrible it is really not worth it.

Yeah but Like I said... I don't want to deal with a used car anymore. and my Mustang corning is prolly worse lol.
ok explain something to me, even though u said, and i quote, "i really dont want to stay with the 6 and id really like to get an 8", u are willing to downgrade to a 4 banger! if u thought the v6 sounded ricy just think about what that cobalt will sound like

No It's not like that lol.
THe things about this 4 banger is it's ready to be made faster, it's already supercharged, it's a reliable chevy engine. and it has good potential.
As for the v6 mustang it's the explorer 4.0 ... unreliable, spacer engine for Ford's new v6 and if I get another Mustang I want one screaming with power and 210 hp at 230 lbs ft torque won't satisfy me to much weight to power ratio in the cars today. It's not a bad car but I want a v8 this time. the 05 v6 sounds good if you ask me
Also if you have been around turboed and Supercharged cars... You know they don't sound very ricey at all in fact that have a very nice deep burbly sound, I hold at the same with out v6 duals... maybe a little better. a straight four with race headers and afart can sounds liek ****, but turboed and SCed... Nah it sounds nice.

OK , lets see . The ford 4.0 L has been around along time and from what I`ve seen of then -- not a bad deal . It might be a new application into the 05 mustangs , but not a bad motor . The 05`s V6`s are makeing just about as much HP as the older ( pre 99 ) mustangs . And they are makeing this HP stock before any power adder is installed . Just think what a few bucks would do !
The new cobalt is makeing 205 HP with a power adder already installed . It is a new intro car for 05 so their may be many bugs to be worked out yet . I`m more than sure that they have a speed limiter on them ( The Z 24 was set at 108 , this is the car that they are replaceing , right ? ) Might also want to talk to your insurance people too , Factory SC or turbo cars carry a nice pro rateing from what I`ve been told .
well I could go on and on but am already late for work , Good luck in what ever you do . Just do alot of research for if this car has to last you ten years it is going to be a BIG deal .

There's already aftermarket support from GM's skunkworks.
The 4.0L hasn't been very reliable, but they reworked it last year -time will tell.
Dewd knows what he's talking about, he's been on the v6 boards for quite a while now . ..

No No, I hear what he is saying, and I'm sorry for offending the 4.0 v6.
I think I have my reasons, my friend has that explorer too. and I had to work on it a few times for him myself.. I just don't like it. SOunds good.
But that is 205 hp on a 3000 lbs... it's a lil eh... but the higher RPMs work well with tis supercharger which gives it a good advantage. It's a sporty and nice , bout as fast as a 5.0 right. good torque for a 4cyl 200 lbs... not bad.
Someoen mentioned the 96 cobra... I like that idea now if I can find one with very low mileage. or a 2004 Mach 1 which I have found to go for like 25 k so that's not too bad.
the Cobalt SS is not the fastest car but I have no problem with it. Plus no offense to Ford, Chevy can build a very nice relable engines. specially that 350. Come on. 'Simply' perfect.
If worst comes to worst worst... I might just get a base model v6. but I want to see what else Ford has to offer. I even heard around the shop that Ford is thinking of taking out od 24 valve and going with the 32 valve v8 for the GT producing prolly same power. maybe 305 -310 hp. so I want to see what that is about too.
Also you're right about the supercharger and turbo, need to mark that section on the sinsurance card... and it puts on a nice amount. But I bet the cobalt can be worked nicely. My friends are pros on their lil 4 cyl, I wonder what can be done.
