Default AOD handle removal

Hey everyone, newbie here. Awesome board! I have a question, I bought an aftermarket custom AOD knob to replace the plastic blob the factory puts on, but is there anything more to removing the factory handle other than unscrewing the setscrew that is in the front of it? I did this much and dont want to damage anything by trying to force it off. Is there a second screw, or bracket that I'm missing? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Hi -

I change the shift handle on my automatic. That screw is all there is. The plastic OEM handle is on there snug and you do have to give it a good tug. You can try also to move it left to right a little bit. Be very careful though because when it gives, it gives and you need to be prepare to stop pulling or you may rip the AOD wires out. Once it is off, wire up a new AOD button and popping a new shift handle on are a breeze.
