Default Newbie - Question About Mustang V6 Power

All,

My first post. First, I don't own a Mustang. But I need to pick your brains regarding the V6 power your Mustangs put out. I have a 1936 Hudson Terraplane 2-Door Sedan that totally stock weighs 2900 pounds (according to the title). I'm going to make this classic a resto-rod. I'm not interested in fire-breathing, tire-burning power, I only want to be able to cruise down the highway at 70 mph with the a/c, stereo, etc, get good mileage and not have to worry about it breathing hard. I'm considering the Ranger/ Mustang V6, S10/Camaro V6, Stratus V6 (if I can get an adaptor plate made to bolt a rear-drive trans to it).

Help me out with dimensions and power for the various years from about 94 through 99 (I don't want to have to spend a lot for the complete car since I'm going to dismantle it anyway).

Thanks for any and all help.

Wayne

your best bet will be a Buick V6 or a Ford 3.8L the stratus is a DOHC, and will be much wider than either of the pushrod engines. Furthermore, If you want a firebreather later both the engines can be modded (the Buick more so than the Ford).

if you go on ebay you can pick up a 3.8 engine for around 3 to 4 hundered and if you want a transmission it would be about 200 more. eveything including computer and wireing harness. 3.8 fords are a dime a dozen. I want to get one just to build up so i can drop it in mine, keeping mine reletivly stock.
