Default Another one underestimates the Sixer....

I have an 05 Mustang V6 (stocked) and my boy XS (real identity kept a secret..) has an 05 VW Jetti GLI..Black... We're both leaving work and met up a stop signal...w/ a brief exchange of words...(on the green we go...) and a head nod..we both took off....at first we were neck and neck..but about 3rd gear...(might I add im driving an automatic...he's on a manual..)I take off....leaving him reading the pony on the back.....i felt so goood...i had a smile from ear to ear...he then pulls up next to me..(after I slowed down..) and gave me the "not bad"...w/ head nod..

Don't underestimate the sixer...I have pix of both cars attached below...

Nice!

Sounds like you need some work on launch technique ..

Ah!

That's totally wrong!!!!

you hold the brake and raise your RPM's as high as you can without moving forward, then you release the brake and stomp the rest of the way on the throttle when you're ready to go!!

unless he got a turbo and is running premium + ECU, you should demolish him.

Very cool!

One thing I've been recommending is the SCT X-Cal2.... I've got a 05 V6 with the automatic... It makes a world of difference! Don't know whether you realize it or not but our cars have a torque limiter in 1st gear... One of the things the X-Cal2 does is remove this! Ever wonder why the throttle response from a dead stop was kind of poor? LOL! Torque limiter...

yep, it still works... will definitely help you get a better launch... with the stock program doing the "brake trick" the my tires would barely chirp... 1st time I tried the "brake trick" after reflashing I about wet myself from the tires SQUAWKING so much! I mean I was used to a little chirp and now all of a sudden my tires (or tire... LOL) was spinning like crazy! I don't think I quit grinning for a week! LOL!

Yeah, it scares people too

My friend drives a Lexus (believes he can beat me in a drag). I did the powerbreaking a little bit just to spook him, and I got my tires to smoke a little bit (about 2-3ft burnout, considering i was only moving forward 10 ft until I had to turn around)
