Question tire sizing

I just purchased 4 ADR SZ1 17 X 7 rims for my 1996 mustang...I am looking to find tires that will give me the wider/more aggressive look than my current stock tires and rims. What is the biggest/widest low profile tire that I could get to achieve this look? I've been hearing 225/45/17 is the largest I can go...what do you think? Thanks

Go to www.tirerack.com for sizing.

A lot depends on the manufacturer.

Default tyre sizing

Hi I think if memory serves, that 245/45x17 is the "standard" 17" size option on mustangs . However in my `95 I have 274/40 17 michelins they look great but ride suffers a bit plus dubious directional stability on uneven roads. I guess it depends on if you prefer cosmetics or comfort.( I`m considering down sizing to the 245/70`s on the front)
