A friend of mine has a v6 mustang and was thinking about putting a duel exhaust kit on his car. He suggested it to someone and they told him he would lose power. Is this true? I wouldn't think so.
I just recently inherited my mother's V6 and I'm wanting to put duals on it. Can you guys recommend a muffler that will give it a deeper, throatier sound? I've been told Turbos give a good sound on the sixer's, but any other opinions would be welcome.
Thanks.

If the pipes are TOO large, the lack of backpressure can lower your output, but a set of GT's or other specialized pipes should be fine . ..

I was thinking of putting Mac's on the V6, as I have them on my SVO and I love the way it sounds. Everyone now is putting on Flowmasters and the Macs sound so much different.

TKovacs & SVOChic: Both of you should consider GT take-offs. TK, the GT's are the proper pipe size to keep the loss of torque to a bare minimum while giving a small increase in HP. Plus the fact that they are SS, which means they'll last "forever"
SVO, you could replace the stock GT muffs if you choose, but why, they are allready welded to the pipe complete with hanger arms (you provide the passngr. side muff & pipe hangers) and very nice polished SS tips. As for sound they have a low rumble that is very much unV6 like, me likey.
I got mine from Midwest Mustang , they are very nice people to work with and they get their product out very promptly, now if UPS worked as fast you'd have them in 3 days flat. Mine spent more time in Kansas than on the road, but still a week ain't bad.

The Flowmaster dual exhaust for the V6's isn't a true dual, it connects to your stock y-pipe and then splits into two. To get true dual you will either have to get a GT take-off exhaust with the GT h-pipe included or a pacesetter h-pipe adaptor and any GT cat-back. You can lose bottom end horsepower if you open the exhaust too much. Long tubes and an offroad h-pipe would be overkill for a mostly stock V6.

Actually Backpressure does nothing for your car. It would honestly be better to run open headers if you could. I have been told by people that having backpressure doesn't do anything for your car. Under certain circumstances yes it would help but, the better your heads flow the more power your motor can make correct?

That's true with non-computer controlled cars, but the computer needs backpressure to operate at its best . . . unless the OBD program has changed since 1998 . . .
I know it was possible to go too wide on my 289. You lose a LOT of torque, but your hp numbers increase w/o restrictions, (pre computers). ..
