I didn't start this thread to have people trying to go out and race anyone. I just wanted to be able to say to myself, "I could leave them in the dust if I wanted to, but it's alright to hang back here and let them find the cops for me." When my Camaro was totaled, I knew that if I went to a Mustang I would be loosing something that in performance and in street presence in my area. So I needed something to help me find believe that the Mustang was far more powerful than all those mustangs that I beat with my Camaro (sorry if that includes any of you all). But know I see that the V6 Mustang is fast.
Go to this site to see 0-60 times, just choose the class you want like 'Sporty Cars', then at the top of the screen choose '0-60', then choose the year which by default is showing 'Current', and then find what it is you are looking for. Note: That the 2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L does 0-60 in about 7.9 seconds.
You can also beat the VW GTI but that's a drivers race though. BMW 325 does 0-60 in 7.5 secs so that may be a driver's race, too. Volvo S60 and Acura TSX and Audi A3 Cadillac CTS (Not the V) and the 2005 BMW Z4 and Lexus IS 250, Mercedes Benz C230 and Audi TT (not sure about it though) are probably easy to beat.
Note: a 1999-2004 Ford Mustang V6 stock setup does 0-60 in about 7.9 secs... The (the new one 2006 model) BMW Z4 does it in 7.2... That is more than a drivers race.
7.9 for a n automatic.
7.1 for a manual, according to C/D and 5.0 Mustang.

A manual does 0-60 in 7.3 seconds according to Edmunds.com 1999-2000 with only 5 lbs of tq and 3 hp increased that doesn't change.
The vert and auto are suppose to do this, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds in 2001+ (not 2005+) guise. So only .3 difference that is drivers talent only to make up that race, and with the automatic having a quicker reaction time and being more consistent in acceleration than a manual, that is why I chose an automatic. Granted I love manuals but...
I think of it this way, you only believe what you want to believe and the best time I see up to this point is 7.3 for both auto and manual so I will go with that. I don't remember what site I saw that on.
EDIT= check this out the new mustang 2005 and 2006 v6 automatics do 0-60 in 6.9 secs this is according to Consumer Guide... and the manual according to C/D does it in 6.9 secs... I will say this this way, "I know believe that an automatic of the 3.9 L should do 0-60 in 7.1 seconds just like you said the manual does...

From what I have seen of others that include an addition gear in their automatics and don't up it in the manual to a 6 speed or 7speed (depending on make and model), they are actually slower than the manuals. In rare cases do they actually be faster or as fast as the manual counter part.

Their are a few other cars out there that would be the living day lights out of even the GT and Cobra, so don't think that the mustang v6 can take them on. They would include practically all supercars and cars that are true sports cars like the 350z, s2000, nsx (which is a super car), vipers, cobra's (the real shelby cobras, not the crappy wanna-be mustang cobras), but then even the mustang cobras and gt's.

It depends on the automatic, and the gearing.
The new auto absolutely outperforms the AODE, in just about every way. The AODE would be hard pressed to outperform a C4, it's really a 3 speed with an overdrive.

k im by no means a up to date expert on all them stats but I raced the new eclipse , that thing is fast as hell but I beat the guy ! He's a pretty good driver too , he was using manual stock same as me . The only mods I have are some simple bolt-ons (duals , CAI , UD pulley ) so he still had more horse power. Didnt dust him but I snapped into 4th at 5k rpms and just pulled ahead of him and we were both pedal to the floor lol.

He's a pretty good driver too , he was using manual stock same as me . The only mods I have are some simple bolt-ons (duals , CAI , UD pulley ) so he still had more horse power. Those things are heavy, particularly with the subwoofer, leather, etc. They weigh MORE than a Mustang GT. They're based on the (Outlander?)SUV/Galant chassis.
Figure the hp/lb ratio and you may be surprised . .. 3572/263= 13.58lbs/hp for the new Eclipse with leather & subwoofer. 3150/guess at 220hp for yours =14.32. If you've taken out the spare/etc you could improve that number . .
If he had a GS, that's 3274/162 = 20.21 lbs/hp!

this guy knows how to drive , but so do I ! being that his car is heavier gives me a slight advantage and specs from sites on test drives really doesnt mean nothing when you race on city turf! so dont knock my kill im proud of it !

The new Eclipse GT run mid to low 14s (with a good diver), I dont think that puts them in V6 Mustang terrority !
I've seen mid to high 14's. It's within reach of a modded six.

In last months C&D they were testing the spyder GT and its around the same pricing range (or more) as a mustang GT vert( If i remember correctly). Mustang outperformed in just about evey category and had better MPG.
