They don't make any claims to beating a Mustang GT.

Anything within 0.5 seconds is within production tolerances of both cars and drivers. If the driver's reflexes are 0.15 secs slower per shift, you've got him or her at the third shift.

If the driver lifts when shifting, you've totally got them. Tolerances are tighter on one car, it will be up to 0.3 secs slower than a looser one. For every 100lbs of stuff, you lose roughly 0.1 secs. So a stripper Eclipse GT that they usually test is 0.1-0.2 secs or more faster than a full tilt car with every option.

Mustang v6s that are ACTUALLY sold tend to have fewer options, because the more options you have on the car, the closer you are to buying a GT.

Pre-Production cars are chosen to give the BEST times.

Same goes for the driver - Put Campisano in a car opposite me, and he loses 0.1 secs because of his own lard a**.

You don't necessarily know how a "car" will perform, unless you know what you're up against - knowing the driver, car, equipment, etc can give you an good idea. .

The price of an eclipse GT and a mustang GT is around the same price range... I ,unlike KS, am not good at all the stats and stuff ,but I try and tell the truth. So the mustang v6 should be around the same as the 4 banger GS and should be able to take it.

GS < 4.0 mustang
GT < 4.6 mustang

Even mitsubishi said itself that the GS is V6 mustang comp. By comparing the Mustang v6 to the eclipse GT were bumping up the V6 a class. It would be the same as comparing The GS to a GT mustang.

I test drove one just before I thought about getting the 3.9L of my current car (mustang 2004 v6 vs. the 2005 v6)...

I have to say its not as fast as people try to put on as it being. Go from one auto to another or from one manual to another of either year (2004 or 2005), you don't feel any difference and time wise you don't really see any difference (0-60 mph). Yes for those of you out there that have 4.0L, it is supposedly .3 secs faster, but all that means is its down to drivers talent.

I like the suspension on the older models better because they sit lower to the ground feels like to me and they give a little better feel when it comes to hitting corners.

The new ones all they have going for them is that they look like Eleanor (GT500 from Gone in 60 seconds, why am I saying this we are all mustang people). And that it has a little more power, but it isn't as smooth or as sporty feeling to drive.

NOTE: this is just what I felt from both looking and test driving one. I prefer a car that is both agressive and sporty when I need it to be. The new mustangs are neither.

Kscoyote... I agree, I haven't driven or seen a GT Eclipse of the 2006 body style around here yet that wanted to show off. But if you compare specs and stats, it is safe to say that it is in both cars terrority.

The only thing is that in the end, the GT would just flat out kill the Eclipse GT and the Mustang V6 would have to work a little harder than usual to kill it (but hay that's why we have those with 5 Speed Manuals to do). But Eclipse GS in either tranny will be easily destroyed and the Eclipse GT with the Auto tranny, would be a little harder but it may be destroyed or a 'stale mate' (for those of you who don't play chess, its just when you can't beat someone and they can't beat you)

The new 4.0L has LOTS of potential! LOL! just look at my sig! Also Powerhouse (www.powerhouse411.com) is running a single turbo on their stock 4.0L motor and putting down 400RWHP and running 11.8's all day... woohooo! LOL!

Anything can have potential if it is well bullit proofed and have twin or single turbos add to it. I can add a turbo or twins to my 3.9 and it will have bucket loads of potential. Reliability goes down and so does consistency to produce that power.

Superchargers offer the best bang for the buck and better reliability than a turbo.

And without the right under pindings on the car, the proper suspension setup and the proper driving techniques learned and mastered, you will still get beat by an Acura RSX Type-S or Toyota Celica GT-S that is mildly modified.

1995 Ford Mustang 3.8 9.9 17.3

This is the only time they have for the v6, it's the slowest ever (v6 auto convertible).
