Just picked it up on 3/28/06. Had to trade in the 03, but thought it was well worth it. I love the Pony Package look. Thinking about rear window louvers....any suggestions????

Actually both. It is my daily driver and I'll be taking it to cruises and shows.
Go for efficiency & safety 1st, things like underdrivers, exhaust, Cold Air Intake, a detroit locker limited slip, brakes, tires & wheels, and tighten up the chassis with front and rear strut tower connectors, subframe connectors, then you'll have the foundation to safely go after a cam, power adders etc.
THere are so many exterior options, that you'll probably have to pick up a magazine and look at all the options from Cervinis, Roush, Saleen, Ford Racing, in addition to RKSport, etc.,
Do what you like, and forget about what everyone else "thinks."
It's your car -enjoy it!

I won't lie to you, but I hate the new Mustang Styling, but I like the 99-04 styling. But the Pony Package does look good with the Mustang having the corral around it. So in that regard I have to say I like it only for that reason though... Good luck on your mods but I wouldn't put those plastic louvers on the side windows they look so cheesy...
Actually saw somewhere a while back a decal that goes over the rear side window to make it look like louvers. I think it was in white too. I'll have to do some research again.

I agree with Raptor...I still like the '99-'04 much better. The new ones I don't hate though. The one thing I definitely didn't like was sitting in the car. It felt uncomfortable compared to the last model.

I agree with kscoyote. I know the Pony Package has a "GT-like" suspension, but it could always be better. I love the white look! Even though there are so many ext. options, you can't go wrong by starting with some good window tint. Oh, and don't put any stickers or louvers on the car.... the clean look is the best. Congrats on the new pony!
why put louvers on it at all? Even my '04 can have louvers on those side windows but I wouldn't put them on it...
Sorry for quoting myself, but me a professor friend of mine where talking about aerodynamics of cars. He told me that according to the basic principles of aerodynamics, the 99-04 mustangs have better aero than the new ones because it is a lot easier to control air moving across flat surfaces at sub-mach speeds (less than 770 MPH). Vent louvers and all that would increase the drag of the car because it lets the air detach from the smooth surface of a car. this causes increased drag and less fuel economy, but on like the new BMW 645i from 2004 to the BMW 650i of 2006 they had to put little louvers on the back tail lights to decrease flow seperation. But those on the rear windows don't help anything, they are just a decoration.

Prove it... Their is no information at Ford or else where that states the at Pony Package has any improved suspension setups. What they do say is that the pony package includes for 02-04 GT hood scoop (Non-functional just like on the GT), Polished Alloy Rims, and unique rear fasica (which is nothing more than fill in letters)
- On the 2006's GT Package includes... the corralled mustang with two integrated fog lights, 17" painted alloys with a bright machined finish, Z rated all-season tires, Pony front fender badges and a lower tape stripe, ABS and Traction control.

I did some checking and you are absolutely correct. When the concept car just hit the web, Ford initially said the car would have a "GT inspired" suspension for improved handling, but I just checked the Ford website, and this was not included in the production models. Since I wasn't in the market for a new Mustang, I didn't look any further than the info that was released when the Pony Package concept was first introduced. My mistake.
Having said that, the V6 would DEFINITELY benefit from suspension modifications.

I was wondering, because I had looked up and test driven a lot of V6 and GT mustang before deciding on my v6 '04. And from what I had seen and research I didn't and couldn't see how a v6 had the v8 suspension. Now if we were talking about the y87 package for a Camaro or Firebird I could see.
I chose a V6 of the 2004 model year because it was the most comfortable and I liked the styling better than the '05 but I would choose the '05 or '06 if they didn't weight as much as they do and still had that engine with smaller profile tires on it.
Hay if you take the weight of my car at 3114 and horsepower and torque numbers of 193 and 225 and the new ones with 3350 or so weight and 210 hp and 240 tq... here is some calculations
193/3114 x (x)/3350 = 193*3350/3114 =207.6268465 HP
225/3114 x (x)/3350 = 225*3350/3114 = 242.0520231 TQ
So my torque to weight ratio is better but it has a slightly better power to weight ratio.
