I currently own a 2000 v6 mustang convertible. My boyfriend owns an acura integra that he is currently putting turbo on. He also is a member of a car club that thinks no cars are better than tuners.(civics,neons,preludes,etc..) My problem is this. Everytime i ask what i need to do to modify my car for better performance. I always get the same answer."Why would you want to modify that v6? There's nothing you can do to it that will make it keep up with our cars." But my car puts out alot more horsepower than his.(and yes i know my car weighs more so that hurts me) I need to know what i can do to make my car smoke theirs because i dont understand y most people with tuners think they are more superior than us with american muscle. i also want to modify it so i can smoke him and shut him and his friends up. My car is not allowed in the club because it is not considered fast enough because of the 6. i have never raced them. They wont lower themselves to race me.

you need a target and a budget, then we can talk about plans.
What time do you want to beat, and how much are you willing to pay to get there.
There are plenty of parts available to get a 6 into the 10s.

Sorry sol101 that he feels that way. Alot of us traditional Mustang and Muscle Car enthusiasts feel the same way about their ricers. I wouldn't personally go and bash their cars, but maybe they are too familiar with the term "small."

if he puts a turbo on his ricer and u have the money just super charge ur stang , and if u wana make him hush a bit on bashing your 3.8 pony just tell him thats why the v6 mustang is the first n only v6 to break into a 9 second run lol what integra has done that ?

You're not far from there now. pick up an ATI procharger from RPMoutlet.com, plus an auburn differential and a port and polish from rpm-mustangs.com, and you'll blow him away.

Hete to tell ya, but a coupe version of the 1999-2001 Mustang with a manual tranny did 15.3-15.5 in the 1/4 mile -some freaks did 15.1 . . .
with autos add a second, and with verts (200 extra lbs, add 0.2).
your car should do 16.5.
the 1st sec isn't difficult without a supercharger.
With a supercharger (3200 dollars you'll pick up the second+, and the traction of the LSD will pick up an extra 0.1 or so - you'll still have 1000 dollars to go further.

Gears on a SC 6 with an OEM heads, valves, etc., hurts you. You can't use the powerband.

Don't know how much she can do on her own, or what kind of mechanical help she can get for free.
Putting ported/polished heads or intake manifolds would take a lot of work, but she probably only needs to get into the low 14s to beat most, if not all the Tegs. Even with the turbo. So throw that one out . . .
with the next $1000, I'd throw on a BBK Throttle body -$250, (easy to install, but you should port match the intake with a Dremel). Headers ($300), and dual exhaust ($3-400).
You should get a programmer with the SC unit, so that's a $400 tool for free . ..
With the remaining $100+, pick up a set of subframe connectors and a GT Takeoff Rear Sway Bar from a salvage yard to be able to put the power down.

Since you're going to run a supercharger, you can pick up a GT takeoff from a salvage yard, and get an adapter from Pacesetter. total cost should be $175 or so + installation.
If you want something flashier, you can go with any GT system, side exhaust, etc.
