hey im looking to buy a crank pulley for my automatic v6 mustang what does this mod do and what kind of power increase can i expect?

The accessories on your car do double duty as a package for other vehicles that a re much more demanding. Minivans & SUVs have more volume for air conditioning, more gadgets (speakers, GPS, DVD, TV, Computer outlets, etc), etc. The mustang gets the same engine accessories as these other vehicles. every one of the engine accessories, -AC, Alternator, Power steering, etc, robs your engine of hp and torque. The Crank pulley reduces that parasitic drag by slowing down the accessories to a level more appropriate to the size of the car.

On 99+ cars (after ICE etc bacame big) can free up an easy 12 hp from your vehicle, just by reducing the parasitic losses. That's all it does.

otherwise it shortens the belt that turns all your accessories which will give you back HP. Think of it as pulling on a robe tied to a 12ft diameter pulley, then think about doing the same thing with a 6ft dia. pulley.

mainly the undersides of the pulley is your A/C might not run as fast, but ive not put one on my car so dont take my word from it, just an educated guess.

if you think of the serpentine belt as a single big gear and the crank pulley as a small gear it basically reduces that small gear even smaller so that it requires less torque to turn the big serpentine belt..

downside is that your alternator, water pump and a/c turn slower which in most cases wont really be noticed however in some extreme cases(extreme heat, high electricity demands) you might experience problems keeping your battery charged and have a higher potential for overheating..
