udp from RPM, be very carefull who does the work, and if you plan on running accessies like lights at night or AC in the summer the battery drains as the alternater does not charge.

I have UDP on my 98 . I also notice that the heater/AC and fan really drop the battery guage . But only when I am sitting still at a light . Head lights don`t seem to make that much of a difference . I think it is because the car ( when warm ) ideals down so low at a stop light . This is the only thing I have against them .
To bad, and sorry about your loss . I have a 01 sitting in my yard that looks about the same shape . But I am going to save her and breath some new life into her so she can one day rule the road again .

u can upgrade to a better alernater and get a Alt. Pulley upgrade too , that might help ... as for your loss i feel you bro !! some old lady ran a red light and totaled my 01 when i was making a left hand turn.... i still cry about it but i got my 00 now that im working : D

Got my 2 pulley set from VMPTuning.com with the new sized belt - 25% underdrive crank pulley and 18% alternator pulley so there's no negative effect on the charging.

I've had my 42% pulleys since the car was new, and haven't had any problems . . . even with a competition MMATS 4070 amp.
I don't understand, in any case, how a dead battery would lead to an accident? Wouldn't it just refuse to start? No warning lights re: alternator, battery, etc?
I've had alternator failure on my f-150, 1968 Mustang, and a Crown Vic . . . The worst that ever happened was the lights would flicker and it wouldn't start the next time.

ye i dont see how that would cause your accident unless u stalled out in the middle of a intersection or on a train track
Even then, you would have had ample warnings fromt eh battery or alternator CEL.
If you're running a bunch of accessories on a regular basis and you get an indicator light -you need to pick up an overdrive pulley for your alternator.
But I've got 135000 miles on my 2003, and I've had the 42% since new. I haven't had any problems, whatsoever.

hmm I've had UDP from RPM on my car for 20,000 miles and notice no charging problems at all...
Bad UDP + a few beers could lead to an accident! JK, good thing is you're all right. don't worry about the car, we all have our accidents. important thing is that we walk away from them.
