Default How to get 250HP?

In a previous thread KSCOYOTE told me "You really need to come up with what you want out of the car . . . That will make the roadmap easier to read."

So I'm looking to try to get at least 250 HP from my '97 V6. My budget will be in the neighborhood of $5K if my 2 Wii's and 2 PS3's sell the way I'd like on eBay.

I'm not looking to supercharge/turbocharge just yet

My signature has what I've already done to the car, not too much.

Whatever suggestions you guys have will be GREATLY appreciated !!!!

You can just get a crate motor from Morana or SuperSix for that. -or pretty close to it.

That would take the entire budget though and then I'd have to get it installed & remove my old engine. I'm not looking to do that part myself.

Or are you just talking about the 3.8 Shortblock/3.8 Long Rod shortblock at the bottom of that page?

This is what I have come up with over the past few days.

I know they're not all power parts, but still something I'll need to get it to the ground.

Under drive pulley set - $135.00 http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...id=81&parent=0
Ford Racing OEM trak-loc diff - $200.00 - $219.88 http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...6&autoview=sku
http://www.3.8mustang.com/performanc...&listcat=T-lok
Swap to a 3.27 or 3.45 gear - $170.95 - $199.95 http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...DS=1&N=700+115
http://www.3.8mustang.com/performanc...&listcat=Gears
Porting heads - $500 http://www.3.8mustang.com/performanc...&listcat=Heads
Porting intake - $500 http://www.3.8mustang.com/performanc...istcat=Intakes

Right -just the shortblock. A local shop can do the rest.

yeah, those are about right. You may want to consider stepping up to a better limited slip.

Installing the engine isn't as hard as it seems -just color code and number the connections.

The hood comes completely off the car, and alignment is a lot easier with the newer cars than the older ones.

I'd get an aluminum flywheel before a driveshaft.

Before you build your engine you really need to now what type F/I you are planning on using as that effects the C/R you will use and the cam that you will use also .
For example if you wanted an all out 93 octane N/A engine you could use 9.1:1 or 9.3:1 C/R even higher if you wanted but those C/R would not work well on a F/I engine , depending on the planned boost level anywhere from 8.2:1 to 8.5:1 would be preferred to keep you in the 93 octane range and still make nice power .
Just be sure you think it all through before you buy the parts.

I guess C/R means Compression Ration, but what does F/I mean?
