THe Mondo Cooler is over the top (literally) but I'm sure it's a great conversation starter!

Yeah I agree , he ran out of blower so he had to squeeze it , the car is really not that fast when you consider how much he has in it .

Supercoupe heads . . . .

If he knew he was going with a centrifugal blower, I have no idea why he'd use those heads, unless Miller gave him a deal on 'em . ..

I don't know why either , Millers heads flow ok , but if you look at a lot of the supercoupe guys they don't really make a lot of HP , thats mostly due to the type of power adder they work with . They have problems with their heads lifting and they have to run big lifts to get a decent flow out of their heads .

Hey Guys, Was that the reason why the supercoupe hp to tq ratio was so far off? Don't you want to get those numbers as close together as possible when building a motor?

I read the issue and thought with all that work, the numbers were low too, but you guys have that experience where I'm just a rookie.

Enlighten me guys, thirsting for knowledge......

Most of the time but not always the 3.8 engine will make less torque than HP , but you have to consiser the blower those guys use. A 4.2 stroker adds about 30 ft lbs of torque and simular HP (depends on cam , C/R, ported heads bigger valves etc.) all these things afect HP and torque numbers . The lower intake on a supercoupe engine pretty much sucks too so they really have a lot of things going against them .

I just remember looking up the specs and seeing around 240hp, but 315tq, so I figured there must be some room for improvement somewhere in the heads/intake. Don't quote me on the numbers, but I do remember a big gap.

The Super Coupes only made around 220 hp.

You can almost hit that number with bolt-ons on a 99+ engine, and it weight less.

THe only thing really going for the SC 3.8L was the bottom end, forged pistons, crank, etc.

but the 01+ blocks are stronger, and forged pieces are available.

I don't understand running SC heads/intakes when he already had the 99+ heads and intake.

Especially since he used a centrifugal SC unit, and not an Eaton blower.

It doesn't make any sense . . .

But it's not my car -maybe he just had to have the mondo cooler . .. .

Maybe he was going to go with the Eaton and decided against it later on. Not sure.....
The mondo cooler does look impressive, but not being able to put on a hood on it is not the best plan either. But if you don't drive it all the time, it would make sense. Heck, I have enough anxiety attacks dealing with bugs up here. Nothing like a good hatch of bugs to ruin the front of your car......
