Default Underdrive Pulleys and Fuel Economy

Has anyone else seen reduced fuel economy after installing underdrive pulleys?

I've noticed about -2mpg difference from the underdrive pulleys installed 1 1/2 months ago.

I ran fuel system cleaner through it. Taken it to get the injectors cleaned. Checked the spark plugs, but can't find where the gas mileage is going.

That's strange Tom..... You should be getting better gas mileage.

Cause and effect could be taking place here. Are you on the gas more? I know when I installed my dual exhaust, it was supposed to get better mileage, but I've gotten worse mileage because I'm on the gas more. I love the sound, so I make it sing whenever I can......

KS is the "King of Gas Mileage."

No, I'm still driving as I normally do, rarely over 3K RPM and rarely over 70mph. I don't "gun" the engine or race or anything.

how long since you cleaned your air filter?

I can always tell because my mpg drops dramatically when it needs cleaning . ..

Check your tire inflation, too.

The only thing that may have changed from your installing the pulleys is the belt is gripping better, meaning there's less slippage on the accessories, or the tensioner may have gotten off and is creating excess friction, or the pullies are misaligned and the belt is getting a good side rubbing, creating more friction. .

I cleaned the air filter same time as I installed the pulleys.

Had the tires rotated/checked/inflated by Discount Tire 2 weeks ago.

I don't see any excess wear or discoloration due to friction on the belt.

The tensioner seems fine and I don't see any wobble in the pulleys. I had a friend look at it too.

Well it has been fluctuating, but still about 20-40* below the temp at the beginning of October.

Went from 80-90* to about 40-70*

It takes longer fo rthe engine to heat up, and the electric choke comes on more often and for a longer period of time.

When it gets cold, you may want to swap in your old intake . .. .

If the position of your MAF is the same, you can just swap in the old filter section and leave the rest . ..

The MAF is in the same place.

I just hate having to wiggle the damn filter out of the fenderwell and remove the section below the MAF.

I'll take the MPG hit, the little 'whine' of the CAI is nice.......
