bbk and jba offer shorty headers that are bolt on, and fit without modification, i think mac has long tube headers but you have to modify your exhaust. I'm not sure about what the difference in power gains though.

meaning they bolt directly to the cats without modification to the pipes?
Is there a power difference in the short vs. long tube headers?
Can the short tube header perform a "direct" bolt on to the exhaust pipes, specifically at the cats?
I'm just trying to figure out which would be easier to install, because I don't really want to do any more exhaust work.
Long tubes will get you 50% more power over the Short tube headers. But they may not be legal, since you have to relocate or delete the cats.
In kansas, it used to be the cats have to be dead before you can install long tube headers on a vehicle that hasn't been grandfathered in.
The car had to have over 100,000 miles . . . I don't know about Texas.

Yes they will directly bolt up no modification , I ran BBK on mine before I decided to make some real HP

Would I need different gaskets than the ones currently on the exhaust manifold?
do you know your HP gain after the BBK's were installed?
Not really because I did a Head , cam ,intakes swap all at one time .I never use exhaust gaskets ,I use the red high temp silicone

Shortys are within the margin of error on a stock engine. They only start to benefit the car at around 250+ hp. Then you'll see 5-7 hp. Until then, they're nice to look at.
You'll pick up 5-7 hp with long tubes on a stock engine, and a pick up of 12+ on a modified engine.

So right now, there a very minimal gain with installing the shorties.
It would be primarily looks and an added mod on my signature line.
Got it.
The tubular manifolds on your car are already almost headers -they only lack a collector -they are extremely efficient -probably the most efficient manifold Ford ever produced.

Shorties on a near stock car will usually actually lose a hp or two from the dyno's I've seen. Stick with what Ford gave ya.
yeah, some show a gain of 1-2 hp some show a loss -it's within the margin of error.
