hey guys, i need help with this one. Im running on low budget for this one too. I want to know what you guys think would be the best performance mods to buy for a 97 convertible v6. now i already have a dual magnaflow performance exhaust and i but a k&n filter. what would be da best things to buy with $500. I want to get the most hp for every buck i spend. thanxs
With $500 I would do gears. Just don't nickle and dime it (kinda like I did) I have about $2,000 in mods (including new tires) and my car barely pulls on other stock 97s/98s.
Everytime I would put some money away I would spend it on this or that, instead save up and get a supercharger or somthing...

Try to find a sight that can give you some info on rear ends. Gears basically controll how fast you rev up, and can make a HUGE difference in perfomance. Some one help me out here, but if ameth and I were to through 4.10s in our sixers it would take off around .5ish in the quarter mile?
Gears are the "best bang for the buck". And from what I hear, one of a few bolt ons that you can feel a difference with.
With a auto v6, I would go with 3.73s or 4.10s. Gears are cheap, like $150. But can take up to 4 hours to install. Most shops charge around $3-500 for a gear install. Hard to find some one that knows how to do it though.

On works time right now lol, but hey man, you need to make a plan. What are you going for? If you want to be allitle quicker then yea, just do bolt ons. If your going to supercharge or turbo then alot of bolts ons arn't compatable with FI (forced induction, turbo/super/NO2). Ask your self how much your willing to spend on the car first, then we'll give you a lay out of stuff to do lol. Get back to me, later man.

For $500, your best bet would be to bolt on a 99-01 set of heads/intake. The heads /intakes/throttlebody should cost you around $200, leaving you $300 to play with.
If you do the work yourself, you can use the 300 to get underdrivers and a full length cold air intake.

all i want right now is more power. im running on a real low budget therefore i can't afford a supercharger or turbocharger. I have 2 v6 da 97 and a 01. right now all i want to do is get as much bolt ons as i can for my 97($500-$1000). i don't want to supercharge this car.

you might be able to pick up a complete low-mileage 99+ engine for $500. just swapping the heads/intake or the whole shebang will get you 50 hp.
