You may want to check into a T-56 -they're getting cheaper. Lightweight, and the additional gear never hurts.
I don't think the
tranny really cares. The input shaft may differ but other than that, the main problem is going to be the electronic speedometer.
GT eater may have a solution, but if you're going for a straight swap, just pick up a same year GT
tranny for added strength - they're probably going to be easier to find, anyway.
