Question 1995 Mustang Automatic to Manual Transmission but which one?

ok as some of u know i have a 1995 v6 auto.... have printed out step by step instructions on the swap but i have a question...

what trannys will work?

does it have to be a 95-98 or can i go with one from a 01-04?

i was just reading another thread and it was saying the the 01-04 are not only stronger motors but stronger trannys too...

so i suppose my question is...

what would be my best choice?

You may want to check into a T-56 -they're getting cheaper. Lightweight, and the additional gear never hurts.

I don't think the tranny really cares. The input shaft may differ but other than that, the main problem is going to be the electronic speedometer.

GT eater may have a solution, but if you're going for a straight swap, just pick up a same year GT tranny for added strength - they're probably going to be easier to find, anyway.

The GT tranny is externally the same.

the T-56 will require relocating the cross-member and a shorter dirveshaft -It's the 6-speed from the Cobra.

Where you pick it up depends on what you want out of it -If you're looking for one that's super heavy duty, there are several race shops that make them for around 1700 dollars, if you're looking for a unit out of a Cobra, you'll probably have to go with www.stangparts.com or a local salvage yard.
