Question 2002 Mustang V6 Heads, Intake and Cam Package Comparision

Ok, I am set on my future mod plans but right now I am trying to decide who to get what from. I am going to do heads, intake manifolds, and cam; supersix offers these in a package deal but tom morana is cheaper on the heads and cam individually and they look like the do better work on the heads. KS, GT, I know yall have an opinion on this one.

the Stage 2 Power Pak (pdf document)

the Stage 3 Heads

the Morana cam

Comp Cam (pdf document)

I like the morana heads, but morana does more custom stuff than Supersix which delivers more repeatable performance. At least that's the way it's been in the past.

Morana generally builds to owner specifications and has a variety of means to an end.

a spec'ed cam is going to give you better performance than an off-the-shelf cam, but the spec'ed cam is going to cost more.

Its all in what you want . I always tell people to talk to several people go with the one you feel will get you where you want to be power wise . I have used Tom Y's heads and they are Top quality work , I haven't used Morana's stuff mainly because I like to spend the money in the U.S. and Tom Y is closer to me .I also do business with Delk performance , so I spread it around a little .

Default doing a little comparing

I tried posting this thread yesterday but it didn't work? Go figure.
Alright, so I have my plans laid out for the whole build and I know exactly what I want, but I am not sure who to buy what from. I orginally was looking at a package deal from supersix, but I found some parts from tom morana that are a little cheaper and may be better quality.

this is the package from supersix (stage 2), it includes the heads, itake manifolds, and cam. It also has an installation kit as an option.
http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/p...2PowerPaks.pdf

now here is the heads and cam from tom morana, I am looking at the stage 3 heads and the morana cam.
http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...l?CategoryID=7
http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...l?CategoryID=5

I looks like supersix is the only place where I can get the ported itake manifolds, but I would like to know which heads/cam is of the best quality?

Again I don't know what Morana uses but I do know what Tom Y uses ,
on the stage 3 heads he uses Manley stainless steel valves ,1.94 intakes and 1.56 exhaust and he uses the comp 26918 springs on the heads . He uses Wiseco pistons and comp cams and rockers, all quality parts.

Sorry about the double posting, I don't know why the hell my thread was renamed?
Anyways, by spec'ed cam you mean the one morana offers right? So if I went to morana, I would need to tell them what plans for mods I am making and they can help me find a setup that will work best. I wish they would offer ported upper and lower intake.
Would going with morana be a little more $$$ considering it's custom work.

Does Tom Y or Delk have a web link I can look at?

My opinion is the supersix power packs looks like Great deals and nice h/p gain for way less then a supercharger. Myself plans on going with the stage 2 power pack at the end of summer plus I might run the bottle.

Tom Y is the owner of Supersix - He can also spec a com for you -he used to offer it with the package - a Crower Cam.

Check to see if it's not in there . ..

More time. He works on the Canadian $.

yeah, that's the way you work with Morana.

He built a sprayed engine that was externally stock. The injectors were hidden in the inside of the intake manifold -incredible.

Sneaky Pete would be proud.

Ahhh... I see. I looked at the cam link and all he seems to offer is the comp cam and delta cam. However, on the package it says choice of SSM cam, could this be something different?

yeah, the SSM cam is a specced cam (Supersix Motorsports = SSM) He's getting his cores from Comp Cams instead of Crower.

I'm not much for economics myself, what do you mean he works on the Canadian $$?

How much difference would it make if put on roller rockers with the package?

He's usually cheaper, because of the exchange rate.

I'm just impressed with his work. In 1992 he built a 12 second six & the latest combo I've seen from him was a 600hp supercharged/N20 combination.
