I'm trying to figure out if the price this dealer near me is asking, is a decent price... It's a 2000 Mustang V6, not GT, auto trans, 79K miles, body looks pretty good, looks like back bumper was keyed, and a small ding on the passenger door.
They're asking $5800, it'd end up about $6400 after all taxes and fees and whatnot... sound like a good deal? On a side topic, would it be possible (or feasible) to customize it in the future, give it a good boost in hp/tq, since most people seem to stick to a standard trans?
Well you can find a GT in another state for that price or a few thousand more. So be patient and find a GT. If it is insurance you are looking at find a 93 4 banger and throw in a 5.0 it is cheaper and have 4 banger insurance. I would not get that model V6 unless it was given to me for free. My mom has a 2000 V6 and it is very slow even with some minor mods.

ye if you want sky high insurance , pretty bad gas mileage , Thousands more you'll have to pay on top of the extra thousands more you will have to pay to get it to keep it going, and thousands more to mod it then go ahead and get a Gt.... But while this guy is bashing the V6's That is a great price for a 00 V6... Same car I have and its only slow if you dont know how to drive it. A few bolt ons and stickers aint gonna make it fast cough:cough: Theres place's like www.supersixmotorsports.com or http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...?CategoryID=21
for the same amount You pay or maybee less for the Gt you can get that V6 more powerful then a 99-04 Gts and prolly able to keep up with the 05 + gts.. Depends on what you want outta your car, Even for about 4k you can get a procharger and get a ridiculas about of power outta a 3.8 engine, But for that price and miles I would def. Look into investing that. Thats round about price here in the Detroit area where mustangs are common as Green grass. Also Gts for that price around here (And this being a cheap place to get a mustangs v6/gt's You can get a 94 to 98 GT with about 130k miles on it.. )Might be lucky and find the 99-04s with 140k.. But this is a great place to ask about mods on the V6 mustang, People are always helpful.

I would'nt suggest going this route UNLESS you are only going to carry liability insurance only. Almost all insurance companies require you to state whether or not you have an individual modification that cost $500 or more. Basically, if you wreck it with the 5.0 in there, they won't pay for it, because you lied.
I don't presume to know your financial situation or your driving record, but I would tell the truth IF you are going to carry more than liability. It will save you money in the long run.

Sweet, thanks for the help guys... ya, i believe i actually have to get more than just liability, (i think i have to have collision, too), because i'm taking out a small loan for the car.
Yeah that sounds pretty good ,I just bought an 01 with 78k and all together mine came to a little over 7k.overall Im pretty happy with it.It is slower than I'd expected but I haven't been able to mod it at all yet (no money),but I feel like with a couple basic mods it will have adequet power for me but then again I'm dont plan on taking it to the track.good luck!
i got a 2000 mustang with about 90k miles and it runs great. i had a 85 iroc-z camaro and the horsepower difference was crazy. i was so used to having the power right there and now theres not much there. but with a few mods it will be runnin strong.
Well, I have a 00 V6 and I bought it with 84,500 miles but I love it and it isnt as bad as he (coolwaterblvd) makes it out to be...and $5800 isnt too much because I see the same car with more miles for more money so I would go for it if you want it....
^What are you talking about??? The 85 Iroc had no power. Just because a car has a V8 in it does not mean it is fast. My first car was a Camaro from the 80's, talk about gutless, my single-port takes the 305's... The TPI were barely better than the regular ones and for the extra money not worth it...
when i got my 2000 v6 it had 76K and i got it with a system in the car, for 4600 i like my car it is fast for a v6 buts probably because i have a manual transmission. i believe the auto trannys are slower than the manuals though
I got my '01 V6 with 5-speed 108K miles, Flowmaster dual exhaust, and sound system for $4,200. I even have all the service records from the previous owner.
I'd love to have a GT, but fuel cost and insurance is a killer. I currently fill up once a week and pay $60 month for insurance. It is relatively cheap to run, and it isn't a slouch when you step on it.
If the car is in good shape, go for it. They are great cars and a lot of fun to cruise around in.
