Hes going to need forged. Whats the compression stock on those enignes? It has to be at least 9:1, which is a little steep for 11 lbs of boost in a car that wants to see alot of miles, definately if it doesnt have forged pistons. Dont forget that the pistons can melt pretty easily. The other guy stroked his engine to a 4.2, that had to be expensive. And I think he doesnt want to throw a bunch of crap out if his car if its the only form of transportation. And how much did that guy spend on the engine to move 11s? I never said it couldnt be done, but in a streetable and affordable package, its going to be difficult on a 16 year old budget.
He didn't stroke it until later. 4.2L rotating assemblies are cheap, and there weren't forged pistons available when he built the car.
I had more money as a 16 y.o. than I have now . . .
I wish I had the cash then, nowadays.
but I did contract yard work, and didn't have any responsibilities. I brought in $400 a day in the summer.

You can get enough of a boost by adding the 11psi kit from Procharger and body mods. 350hp is an easy target for around 5k, but the hyper pistons may not last too long. They're good for NA, but forced induction is another issue.
We like to lay these ideas out for any age member so they are better versed in the knowledge of their rides including the potential it has. See what GT-EATER lays out with his.

I got my 1968 down to 2300-2400 lbs.
All the Chevelles, Camaros, etc weighed 1000 lbs more than my car at a minimum.
No one could ever believe how fast that car was with a "little" 302 with 15/7 steel wheeled Magnum 500s & Western Auto generic tires (if I was lucky).
Even the cops.
Some of them pulled me over just to see what I had under the hood -All they ever saw was a medium duty 302 with an Edelbrock Combo and a 600cfm 4 barrel carb.
Every one else was piling on the weight (adding leather, subwoofers, power windows, Air Conditioning, powre locks, power seats) while I was cutting it out.
their engines/trannies/u-joints would blow all the time, while mine was understressed. Put 200,000 miles on the car before I finally spun a bearing.
Low to mid 300 hp in a car that weighed as much as a Civic (which now weight 3200 lbs, nowadays -so it's more like a Chevy Aveo) was tough to beat.

By the way, I dotn want you to think that im disagreeing with the fact that one can run 11s. Like I said in my original post im not saying it cant be done... but it will need the entire engine rebuilt and then he still needs to pass emissions.
The Procharger is 50 state emissions legal, and people have put them on 125,000 mile vehicles with no problems after two years with it on the car.
Stay out of the boost, except when you need it, and you won't have any problems.

THen you're going to want to go with a forged rotating assembly so you can get a smaller pulley.

You sure it's a 20lbs reduction in weight? I bought my aluminum drive shaft many years ago, before it got be a popular upgrade but if I recall correctly, it was only a 7lbs savings in weight. Am I wrong? (It's a FRPP DS.)

Sorry, brain fart -It was 20 lbs in my 1968. And I'm planning a cf driveshaft which is 20lbs.

Ok, it's 8 using steel yokes, switching to aluminum yokes will get you another 3/lbs per yoke. which nets you 14lbs.
Using CF will get you 20 easily.
