Default 2000 Mustang V6 Should I Get 18s Or Lower My Car And Keep My 17" Mach I Wheels?

I have 18's , and like them fine, but there are some things you should consider:

1. 18" wheels and (more importantly) tires cost more.

2. You shed a little straight line performance with the taller wheels. (Though a larger contact patch yields benefits in handling).

Check out my profile for pics of my car with 18x10's rear and 18x9's front (if you don't want the front tires to rub, keep the size under 275 series).

keep the 17s and lower the car that way you get style and proformance...

I would keep the 17's and lower the car. Sometimes if your wheels are to big and if they are chrome it will look DUB. Not my opinion of cool on a mustang. If you pick decent rims you might be okay, but I would find it safer to just lower the car.

yea unless they are "mustang" wheels i would not do it...But i still like the 17's and lower

if you get bigger wheels you will have to recalibrate your speedometer unless you get a smaller sidewall tire... which by the way is a pain in the ass because if you ever hit a bump or hole in the road too hard the smaller sidewall tires are more likely to pinch and get damaged or even worse pop. i would just stick with the 17's. i think 18's look kinda gay on a mustang anyways. and you can get some sick lookin 17's.

hey cobra why are you adding the 4.30's and not 4.10's?

i already did get them in i just havent changed my signature thing yet... and i did that to make the car haul that much more a** haha.. HUGE diff in acceleration. it feels like i just bolted a damn supercharger on my car. and all of the ford tech guys that i know up at the dealership around here told me that 4.30's are the best route for the 4v motor cobras. if i mash it i spin the tires clean through first and second and scrape em for a bit in third... it moves...

so what would guys reconmend going on a stock 00' 6banger manual ??? i just want some better gears that will hold up longer and launch quicker

4.10's will do you nicely if you don't go on the freeway a lot. other than that i would say do 3.73's

Yea i would go with the 3.73's for your car... since you dont want to be shifting that much.. also get a T-loc at the same time...

He's got a Cobra 4 valve.

They really need to rev to make power.

Pushrod engines need to make power from the lower end of the RPM spectrum, unless heavily modified.

that's exactly it.. gotta get to that power band quicker.. i mean it revs at 6800 so you gotta take advantage of that
