I met my fiancee and daughter in Wichita on friday with her friend. Her friend took her car to Midas to get the brakes checked out on it becuase it just rolled over 80k. After their "inspection" they told her she would need new rotors and pads yada yada yada. She then drove 30 miles to my house, hearing this strange clinking noise when she slowed down. She then called Midas and they told her it could be some part in her front end. She said she would bring it back tomorrow, she picked up my fiancee and daughter and drove another 30 miles to the mall to go shopping, again hearing this noise when she was slowing. I got off work and met her in my stang in wichita for dinner. They pulled up and wanted me to take a look at her car so I jumped in the Misti Eclipse and started to drive around that parking lot, hearing the noise but not as bad. I told our friend to get back in while she drives in circles around me so I can pinpoint the noise. After a few circles I told her to stop and walked right up to the lugnuts which were finger tight!!!!! Midas had forgot to torque the lugnuts down after the took a look at the brakes. I could turn them 4 revolutions before they fell off.
Midas claims ASE Certification for all service techs working for them.... I claim they are full of **** and the local franchise needs to be investigated, which I am in the process of starting through their corporation HQ and through the Better Business Bureau. Bunch of Tards!!!
speakin of midas they tried to charge me for Front brake pads, rear brake pads and a right rotor for 570.00 give or take plus 140.00 for labor.Went to muffler man down the street , left for chicago for 2 days and the G/f told me it came to 301.00 ..... came back and its stops better then ever. There pretty crooked and dont really know what there doing.

haha thats funny because i love midas. thats pretty fortunate that you caught the lug thing though cause that could have been catastrophic. i actually have a buddy that works at a midas and he does all my engine work and stuff on the side at the shop. the guy is a genius with mustangs...
There are some reliable people out there that work for midas, I am one of the fortunate ones that haven't ran across one that knows the difference between a 9/16th and a 14mm wrench.
Thats a good catch Lee , as mentioned that could have been really bad

that reminds of what happened to me like 2 weeks ago. my dad and i were rotating my tires and i told my dad to tighten the rear driver wheel as i went to get a drink since that was the last tire left. when i returned we took it out for a ride and everything seemed fine. as i drove back to college (about 2.5 hours away) i heard a sqeaking noise as soon as i hit traffic and thought oh it could just be a bolt or sumtin i didnt tighten up on my rear sway bar (since i installed that the same day as rotating my tires). as i drove faster it would stop. so after getting home and hitting speeds of 90+ on the highway, the noise got louder when i drove slower. i didnt have time to check it until the next day when i got back from school and my tire almost came off as soon as i pulled in my apartment building. yea so make sure to never depend on anyone when working on your car. my dad thought i told him i was going to tighten it when i got back, but being a dumb i didnt even check when putting the hub back on.

Tightening lug nuts is not something you want to forget about. I'm glad nothing bad happened, that is pretty crazy. I have never been a big fan of Midas, I think they are overpriced.
It's not a requirement to be ASE certified to work at Midas. All branches must have atleast 1 ASE certified tech on duty/employeed. In fact, most of those would be the service writer, not the guy in the shop working.
I used to work at Midas in my glory days, while going to school, so obviously not ALL midas employee's are that bad
Good catch Lee..... It could have been much worse than what it was. The only thing I've ever trusted Midas with was cleaning my injectors. They have a pretty good
3-step program. Other than that, I wouldn't trust them changing my oil.....
There is 1 good one that I know of here in SA. My buddy took his Camaro there, the one I sold to him last year, because there was a grinding noise on the passenger rear. They charged him $40 for some new springs and it included labor. It has rear drums. They prob could have told him some big lie about it, but didn't. If I absolutely had to go to Midas, I would go there, but only as a last resort.
some big companies are crap, although I had a friend who worked for midas, young guy, but he knew his exhausts set up, he'd do some custom installs for people, and put my custom H pipe flowmaster exhaust on with custom piping, smart guy.

yeah, My truck lost it's wheel to Midas when I was 16.
I caught on pretty quick they were ripping my dad off on a regular basis. He wouldn't believe me, so I called in my granddad to inspect what was going on.

I was driving my truck home from work last summer and the week after I got it from the deal on some fix they had 2 do I noticed a sweaking noise on the driver front tire. got home and one of the studs was stripped. took it back to the dealer to have them fix it and they busted off the stripped stud and put whole stud and nut on. Later I got new tires for it and we stuck on the lugs on that side. While getting them balanced one day they told me the new stud was stripped AGAIN!! GRRRR that ticked me off so I drove around with it really jammed on (didn't come loose after). Then 2 months ago I got all 5 studs and lugs replaced so no more tire problems.
