2000 mustang V6 upgrades. suggestions.

I just bought a stock 2000 3.8L 5spd mustang. I sold my truck and got 2500 dollars. I would like to spend some money on my mustang. I have the time and am willing to work and spend time on the car as I have vacation from my university. I was planning on getting a supercharger but i was advised that a supercharger will ruin the engine. anything is welcome. thanks. I would not want any illegal parts on it. thanks

well depending on what your goals are, determines what you should do. If you are looking for a shear 1/4 mile machine then I would suggest N20, gears, cam, exhaust, and a tune. If you want a dependable daily driver i would suggest CAI, exhaust, UDpullies, posi-trac, rear end girdle, subframe-connectors, a tune, and possibly gears.
Or you could save up a little more and supercharge it which by the way will not ruin the engine if tuned properly, especially if you only use 7psi.

What do you want the car to do? That would help refine the options.

I would like to increase power and do not have intentions of drag racing or times. I just want to improve my car. How much did you spend on your mustang? I would like to know the name/brand of the parts and approx. cost. thanks a lot

It is hard to add up in my head but around what you are planning to spend probably a little more $2700-$2800 give or take.

There are a lot of mods out there that will increase power and gas mileage those look like they're right up your ally.
1) CAI, Demolet is the best brand but they are hard to find ~$200
2) UD pullies, Motoblue from www.rpmoutlet.com are the best, they are 42% reduction but order from them by phone their internet ordering sucks ~$200
3) Exhaust, to be honest the best place to get exhaust is a mom & pop muffler shop and have them fabricate one for you, buy the mufflers you want ($50) and have them do the piping, 2.25" pipes are the best.
4) Tuner, SCT or Diablosports are the big brands, I used E-bay to get mine ~$370
(those are all the mods I can think of that help mileage) 5)Posi-trac, detroit locker is the best but I have never been able to find it for the 7.5" rear end, the other brand is Ford Racing which is what I have ~$180 for part, $300-$350 for install
6)rear end girdle, its a cap that goes over the differential and will keep the posi-trac you put in alive longer. ~$180, install will go with posi-trac
That there is about $1750, you would turn about 225-230hp with a good mail order tune maybe 235hp, and you would get about 3-4 mpg better mileage.

First thing I would get is a T-Lock, (I love mine). Possibly gears but that depends on how you drive. Suspension upgrades will make it handle much better.

If you get gears, have those put in at the same time as the T-Lok, no sense in paying for the same work twice. I'll have to look again, but I saw somewhere a suspension upgrade kit for $500. It replaces all shocks, struts, springs and comes with sway bars and I think sub-frame connectors. The connectors I could be wrong about. The kit also lowerrs your ride 1".

The throttle body spacer is useless except it sounds like a turbo when you get into the gas, I know cause I bought one. It would have been wise to get the whole intake with the filter.
For other things to buy look at the list I have above and what Kmag suggested.

I wish I heard you sooner about the TB spacer, I did however buy the whole K&N gen II air intake kit with the air filter, I forgot to mention it. thanks

Yeah sorry but those TB spacers are only good for making your wallet lighter. If you do get the K & N CAI make sure you re-use the stock MAF screen. I've heard a lot of guys complain about poor idling and stalling without it.

Gears are great... but i would get a Sway bar, sub frame connectors... CAI, and dual exhaust first...
