Default How strong is the Ford 7.5" T-Lock?

Hi Guys. I recently installed a T-Lock in my 04 Mustang with a 3.9 and 5 spd and want to try drag racing it a couple times. Is it strong enough to hold up to some 3500 rpm - 4000rpm launches (with street tires)? The last thing I want is to break a spider gear. The engine is stock, just a magnaflow muffler and no rear cats. Thanks.

The spider gears are the weakest link to the 7.5 gears , they will probably handle what you mentioned but peg legging at the track really sucks on the 60 ft.

You got that right, that's why the t-lock went in but after installing it some guys are saying it's too weak. Would it be better to launch at a lower rpm (3000) then? Holy $%#*, I just read your sig. That sounds like one bad V6!

You will blow the street tires off if you lauch them too high , if you want to really launch better get some M.T E.T Drags radials.

I would but I just don't know how much the spider gears can take.

with a filter and a muffler he can't be making that much power to burn down the tires with a t-lok. he should get a rear end girdle to keep that t-lok from blowing up.

If you want a T-lock... then i would go with the Detroit Locker... it is much stronger... Plus it does not wear out

I already have the t-lock though. I was told when ordering it they can handle up to 400 hp then after it was installed some guys are telling me the spiders can break on a hard launch. My question is how hard can I launch, how many rpms will be safe (Street tires and 5 spd)?

it's lighter and holds more fluid, it will keep the T-lok at a lower operating temp. Oh and yeah it is a differential cover.

I don't know the exact failure... but i don't think that you would be able to break them, with what you have on your car...

you are not putting down that much power with your current mods so you shouldn't have to worry to much about it. I don't see why you would need to launch over 3000rpms anyway? just a little tire spin then hook up and go.

That's good to hear. I thought they should be a little tougher than the stock ones but wasn't sure. I'll look into the braced cover too. Thanks guys.
