Default Range sensor came with new connector - install it?

I was told that this sensor (from the Ford dealership) is an updated sensor. It included the following hardware:

I didn't install any of it, as I don't know what any of it is besides the connector.

My question is - Do I need to install the black connector in place of my old one? Perhaps, it's updated as well?

Because the sensor still isn't functioning correctly.

Yea if it can be upgraded do it; esp if the dealer has changed it u know that they have fixed a possible major problem.

In the picture I provided - it is the black connector "link". It has no electrical components inside (as far as I can tell). The sensor itself is upgraded, the connector was just included.

It's going to take a lot of work to install the connector (this sensor is in a really bad place), and I just want to make sure that this is what I need.

And the instructions say "If connector replacement is required".

The washer-type things pictured, are spacers. I didn't use them, and my original range sensor didn't have them.

TRS is not working - what else could it be? This is the second time replacing this sensor (thought first one was bad).

it could be in the harness. check out the connection side for corrosion, pins that have been pushed out, or damage.

I would rather do the work once... then not install it and need it...
