I have a 99 automatic and I was wondering if you guys think i should get 4.10 or 3.73 gears. I want a stop light stomper and maybe some roadcoarses. not really planning on doing any quater mile races though.

4.10's... If you do alot of highway driving then i would get the 3.73's... If all you care about is getting the car off the line, then the 4.10's...Just remember that you will need to get a programmer to adjust the speedo, and the tranny...
When I put in the 4.10 in Im also going to add a FR trac-lok, a TA cover and a motive bearing kit. What gears would be better motive or FR?
If you don't like whine I would use the FR.

Steep gears will kill you on a road course.
FR gears require less shimming = less labor=less money for install.

if u got the 3.73 on an automatic would u still notice a big difference cuz to be honest im kinda scared to go with 4.10s cuz i dont wanna idle high on the freeway cuz i drive 80+mph. i was driving with my stock gears and i was at like 2400 doing about 80 so i dont wanna be over 3000 if i get 4.10s.

alright guys i called my local performance shop and talked to them about the gears and the guy told me it will be 270 bucks for install on the gears and he told me i dont really need a locker b/c i wont be drag racing with it. i just want better acceleration off a light and passing power. so do u think that it is true since i wont be drag racing and occasionally just racing cars in the streets when they pull up to me and rev their lil ricers that a t-lock/locker is not really necessary. my thoughts right now are to get gears and a custom tune from justin at vmp tuning and thats it. whats ur guys thoughts???

If you're doing road courses, or have snow, go with the t-lok. Otherwise, you don't have to.

yea i live in south cali and we get no snow and barely any rain. most of the time it is dry weather. i just want better acceleration off a street light or just simply to race cars that pull up to me. i will probably never go to a drag strip or anything like that
