Default How many miles on your car? and How long you want to keep?

My 95 v6 3.8 manual has 217K so far. I like to keep it up to 300K. If it is possible, all you guys think? It's still running great now with all stock parts, never race and mod. I will buy another Mustang when mine finished.

modifying small things on it may actually make it last longer. like for example, getting the exhaust done, maybe a good air filter from k&n. things like that will probably help out in the long run. because remember keeping it as clean as possible is what helps engines last. regular oil changes will full synthetic oil. so i would say that the same rule would apply to things such as air filters fuel filters and things of that nature.

any aftermarket exhaust system will do. just get one that is high flowing because it will take load off of the engine because it wont have to work as hard to push exhaust gases out the rear of the car. i would say magnaflow or bassani would do you just fine in that category

My 04 has 26k and hopefully I'll be keeping it a long time.

philng. One mod worth doing that will really help your motor is an oil separator on the vacume hose from the PCV to the intake. Oil is being sucked up into the intake which will cause a carbon build up on the valves. It's a cheap mod and won't affect passing smog.

I tried a fuel filter first and oil soaked the filter very quickly so you will have to replace it in no time. I bought an oil seprartor from Habor freight for $14.00 with 2 barbed fittings. It holds a lot more oil without letting it get through like a filter will.

I have about 300,000.00 miles on the car, with about 8 thousand on the motor. Its a 1986, that makes it 21 years old. I plan on keeping it until, one I blow up the motor, or worse, and two if I crash it.
21 more years sounds about right...

Sears sells them and also any paint shop will have them but if you want to save a ton of money buy one on line from Harbor Frieght for $10.00 then buy 2 - 3/8" barbbed fittings. On the left valve cover is the PCV with a plastic hose going up to the intake. I cut the plastic hose leaving a couple inches on each end and bought a couple feet of 3/8" hose. I'll post a picture a little later so you can see.

The exhaust won't make it last longer.

If you're planning on getting rid of it soon, stick to the maintenance schedule, and you'll be fine.
