Prepare to learn a new language and have your IQ drop 10 points. Just kidding...
Though, since they call themselves a commonwealth... they do have some things they do differently there.
They definitely do things differently down there, but I can handle it. They old way of thinking will be the hardest to get over. I will be living in a dry county, yuck, but at least they serve alcohol in the next county over. I will be getting a golf membership at a local private club, so they can serve me there-Thank God.
"It looks just like Vermont, but greener and warmer."- Meagan Shine (daughter)
Just got back last night from Kentucky. My Daughter and I are moving in 2 1/2 weeks to Southern Kentucky.
Congrats! Going to run the tail of the dragon on weekends now?

Cool, I have family all over Kentucky!! Beautiful state.
I just could not take the humidity!!
Kaintuckee was known to area peoples as "The happy hunting ground."
No people could claim it, it was for everyone -sort of like a game reserve -The Anglos translated it as "heaven."
But everyone wanted to go someplace like it when they left this Earth for the next.

If he does, he needs to let some of us know - I live about 30 minutes or so from the Tennessee end of 'The Dragon'. There are others on here that live close to it, too (Kyle F and I have taken the Mustangs across - back when he still had his yellow Mustang.) Problem is, too many motorcycles to be able to really enjoy it whenever the weather is even remotely warm. It's okay, though - there are other roads that are just as fun, maybe better, just not as 'well known'.
My bro lives in SE Tennessee, Chattanooga, definately not "dry" there.
Chattanooga is cool. I live closer to Knoxville but we head down to Chattanooga pretty often. Nah, Chattanooga isn't dry (they host the Annual Southern Brewer's Festival every year and one of the best beer stores I know of is there - I visit it whenever I am in that area), but many of the counties/towns in this area are or were until just recently. For instance, where I live you can buy beer in restaurants, bars, etc., you can buy beer at grocery stores, convenient stores, etc. to take home and you can buy liquor by the drink in restaurants but you can't buy liquor by the bottle, to take home. We have to drive into Knox County or Blount County for that. Grocery stores, etc. don't sell wine here - they can only sell 'malt based' beverages - beer, coolers (NOT real wine coolers), etc. For national or international wine brands, you generally have to go to a liquor store. We do have a winery, though, that sells what they make to the public. They have a wide array, from dry whites and reds to dessert wines and their stuff is pretty good. Funny thing is, they can sell on Sundays when liquor stores are closed.
The really strange thing is that Lynchburg, Tennessee - the place where Jack Daniel's Whiskey is made - is dry.
Congrats Tom , when I get the car up and going full blast we will have to hit the tracks .

No, it's really just a move to the warmth more than anything. I don't have a job down there yet, but that's no biggie. The closing on my home in Vt is in 2 weeks, so that frees me up from the high pressure, high paying job that was needed in order to survive and raise my children. So I'm going to take some time off, regroup and refocus my mind, add another Mustang or two to the family, and discover what I want to do for the next 20 years. Does that make any sense?
JB, I will be living just outside of Campbellsville. Thanks and I hope to catch up with you guys down there for some cruises.....

That would be cool. I went to randmcnally.com and got driving directions from my house to the center of town in Campbellsville, KY. The distance is 194 miles.
